Dems Claim Bush and Cheney Killed Flight 93 Heroes
Newsmax.com ^ | June 29, 2002 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 06/29/2002 10:42:42 AM PDT by Paul Atreides

A web site with ties to the Democratic Party and ex-President Bill Clinton is charging that President Bush is most likely "personally and directly responsible for the deaths of 37 passengers and 7 crew members on Flight 93," claiming that evidence shows Bush and Vice President Cheney ordered the plane shot down on 9-11.

The left-wing web site Democrats.com goes so far as to contend that the famous photo depicting President Bush talking on the phone that morning aboard Air Force One was likely taken as Bush was authorizing Cheney to give the order to have Flight 93 blown from the sky.

"Here is a very likely scenario," says the web site. "Bush was approving the shooting down of hijacked airliners, which led Dick Cheney to order the shooting down of Flight 93 - with all of the Heroes on board."

The photo, offered earlier this year for $150 as part of a GOP fundraising package, has the Democratic web site complaining that sale of the picture was "a huge insult to the victims of 9-11 — who died never knowing they were helping raise big bucks for the Republican party."

The report, by Democrats.com co-founder Bob Fertik, blames Bush - and not the terrorist hijackers - for killing the Flight 93 heroes:

"A careful analysis of all available evidence points to a shootdown as the most likely cause of the crash of Flight 93 - thus making George W. Bush personally and directly responsible for the deaths of 37 passengers and 7 crew members on Flight 93."

Democrats.com accuses the Bush administration of perpetrating a massive cover-up by going along with the convenient cover story that it was the battle between Flight 93's passengers and the plane's hijackers that caused it to crash into a rural field in Shanksville, Penn.

"Certainly, the White House has every reason to lie," says the Democratic Party's web promoters. "After all, it would look pretty horrible if Bush and Cheney were responsible for the deaths of the crew and passengers about Flight 93, even if the planes were shot down to protect Washington DC."

"Unfortunately for the White House" says web site continues, "there is overwhelming evidence that Flight 93 was shot down - and no evidence at all that the Heroes succeeded in taking control of the cockpit."

In fact, no one has ever claimed that Flight 93's heroes "succeeded in taking control of the cockpit." Otherwise the crash might have been prevented. The question is, did their failed efforts to regain control distract the hijackers long enough to foil their ultimate plans to attack Washington, D.C.

Given their public comments to date, the families of Flight 93's heroes seem to have no doubt about the cause of the crash.

Last April, after hearing the in-flight recording of the plane's final 30 minutes in a special session arranged by the FBI, family members seemed convinced that their relatives' heroic effort to storm the cockpit - and not a missile from an F-16 - was what brought the plane down.

"I felt incredible pride," said Deena Burnett, whose husband, Tom, died on the United Airlines plane, told reporters after hearing the tape. "It was obvious they all acted heroically."

"I never doubted that there were specific individuals who worked together, and the tape confirmed that," said Alice Hoglan, mother of Flight 93 hero Mark Bingham. "I never doubted that the cockpit had been taken over by terrorists who were thwarted, and the tape definitely confirmed that."

Hoglan, who along with the other Flight 93 relatives was asked by the FBI not to discuss specifics, described the tape as "wonderful in a strange and odd way" - hardly the words of someone reacting to evidence that her son was killed on orders of the president.

Further proof of a shootdown, Democrats.com argues, comes from reports that debris from Flight 93 was discovered eight miles away from the actual crash site, a detail the continues to perplex those on both sides of the political aisle.

But if Flight 93 did explode in midair, there are other plausible explanations, such as the bomb the hijackers said they had and threatened to detonate, according to several passengers who relayed the news in cell phone calls to relatives.

But Democrats.com doesn't let details like that get in the way of accusing President Bush of responsibility for the crash and the ensuing "cover-up."

"The FBI has stated that there was no evidence of a bomb at the crash site," the web site argues. "If the hijackers detonated a bomb, it is hard to imagine a reason why the FBI would cover it up."

Democrats.com has at least nominal connections to ex-President Bill Clinton.

Former Clinton pollster Stan Greenberg sits on the web site's advisory board.

And last August, Democrats.com boasted it had "arranged with the office of former President Clinton for birthday greetings sent by e-mail to be delivered to him personally," adding, "Please join us in thanking the last legally elected President of the United States for his dedication to public service."

On its "Community" page, the left-wing web site explains:

"Democrats.com is the largest online community of Democrats. We have created a unique space where Democrats can meet, discuss, and work towards building a stronger Democratic Party.... Take our Voter Pledge to sweep all Republicans out of office."

The only line worth a reply. If, as in the other 9/11 aircraft, the terrorists had firewalled the throttles. Some very nasty control movements( to knock folks storming the cockpit off their feet ) probably resulted in parts of the aircraft departing. Which would account for the nose dive into the field.

There's no evidence it was shot down. These people are abso-frickin'-lutely delusional in their hatred for President Bush. Better they should take their hallucinations elsewhere than displaying them on an Internet site for all to see. On the other hand, if Dems didn't say stupid stuff like this loudly and publicly, fewer people would know what idiots they are.

From the October 2001 Idaho Observer:

Evidence indicates Flight 93 shot down by U.S. fighter

by Bill Walter

The international press corps reported shortly after the events of Sept. 11, 2001, that President Bush told the American People the terrorist attacks on The World Trade Center twin towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. were the direct result of a “colossal intelligence blunder.” The president also stated that “Your government had no advance warning of this attack!”

The Sacramento Bee reported the following: “The Pentagon scrambled fighter jets to track a hijacked jet liner headed toward Washington, but the plane crashed in Pennsylvania, perhaps after a struggle between passengers and the hijackers.”

Other major media sources reported four jet interceptors had been scrambled -- none able to overtake the three jet liners which crashed into their intended targets in New York and Washington D.C.

A Reuters report from September 13 stated that the FBI cannot rule out that hijacked Flight 93 was shot down by a U.S. fighter jet before it crashed in Pennsylvania. Citing indications of a shoot down, the report states:

“Pennsylvania state police officials said on Thursday debris from the plane had been found up to 8 miles away [from the crash site] in a residential community where local media have quoted residents as speaking of a second plane in the area and burning debris falling from the sky.”

Finding debris miles from the crash site indicates that the aircraft was disintegrating well before it hit the ground, as would be the case if the other plane witnesses saw shot it down. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Sept. 12 that the debris found miles from the crash site included “clothing, books, papers and what appeared to be human remains.”

The secretary of defense denied reports that Flight 93 was shot down.

Shortly after it crashed, rumors began circulating that United Airlines Flight 93 had been shot down by a U.S. fighter jet, but had no authoritative confirmation. The news desk at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette was contacted Sept. 22. The editor confirmed the news release and stood by the information contained in it. The editor also said that, “The FBI confirmed to us that the debris came from that airliner!”

When asked why no other news media in the nation carried their story, I was told, “Of course we passed it forward, but we can't be responsible for what other news media do.”

I'm saying we need to wait on the Press Release to know for sure........

Know WHAT for sure?

Are you saying that someone forced into committing an act is more guilty than the person doing the forcing?

This is the same site that last week launched a petition drive to "demand" the impeachment of George W. Bush, claiming all of 9/11 was entirely his doing.

And we on FR have proven in the past, beyond even the tiniest shadow of a doubt, that Democrats.com is directly run by the Democratic National Committee. They try to paper over that fact and claim it's just a grass-roots site like FR, but (surprise) they're lying.

Maybe Lloyd Grove at the Washington Post would run with these stories. Gossip is gossip, and it would sure embarass the hell out of the RATS to have all of Washington discover just how low they've sunk.

Thanks for posting that. It is definitely a fact that debris was found eight miles away. If the report os correct that it was clothing and human remains, then it was most likely shot down - or there is the possibility of a bomb inside, but not likely, IMHO.

There were people on the plane on the cellphones. They said they were going to attack the hijackers.

Bush said he was prepared to shoot down threatening planes. Thus, he had no reason not to say he did that, if he did.

He is not Clinton, he will tell it like it is.

The people on the plane knew it had to come down. Noone would blame Bush for taking it out, if he had. So what would be the reason for the coverup? I see no reason to lie. Clinton would have lied just for the hell o it. I don't see this in Bush.

Exactly. Which is why this allegation by the RATS is direct proof they're either extremely desperate, literally deranged, or both. Most likely both.

There are the flight recordings which indicate a massive attack by the passengers to overcome the terrorists.

And the phone calls to family by the passengers speak of plans to overtake the terrorists.

But, of course, facts have never prevented the RATs from spewing vicious lies!

Disgusting!

Let's not forget that the hijackers would not want to be taken alive. Combine a suicidal terrorist with an aborted mission, and there is no telling what happened on that plane.

Many here were saying the same thing afterwards, that the debris field seemed to indicate a shoot down that was justifiable, check the stories from the day out. Linking it to the fundraising photo is in bad taste, but politics ain't beanbag.

This is beyond dispicable. Don't these people have any conscience at all? Don't they care how much talk like this hurts the families of the heros of Flight 93? Of course, weasely little cowards like this would have no conscience.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I've just about had it with these demented conspiracy types. They were mildly amusing during good times, but they are downright dangerous to this country now.

“Pennsylvania state police officials said on Thursday debris from the plane had been found up to 8 miles away [from the crash site] in a residential community where local media have quoted residents as speaking of a second plane in the area and burning debris falling from the sky.”

You mean, just like would happen if there was a major wrestling match taking place in the cockpit, with several people fighting for the controls and sending the plane into dives and gyrations that stressed the jet far beyond its design limits, causing it to start breaking apart in midair?

The plane did not suddenly go perpendicular from horizontal flight to a direct 90-degree angle nose-first into the ground. Pieces of plane wreckage are routinely found miles from the main crash site. This all occurred over well-populated areas, yet nobody saw any fighter jets shooting missiles at anything. The heroes brought the plane down. It's established, it's fact, it's over.

Of course not. This is the party of Bill and Hillary, of Teddy Kennedy, of Cynthia McKinney, of Janet Reno.

This is a non-story! We were already told they were headed to shoot it down but didn't need too because Beamer and his helpers brought it down!

The hijackers were only able to take over the aircraft because of years of gov't disarming of American citizens and especially the disarming of the commercial pilots; therefore IF the flight was shot down on orders from Bush , Cheney, or whomever, the gov't IS directly responsible for ALL the deaths

I hold the gov't officials morally responsible for disarming of peaceable Americans and the deaths and injuries of those Americans.

An administration which continues to fight the natural rights of the citizens and PILOTS to arm and defend themselves is NOT truly Constitutional , nor conservative, nor freedom-loving. Nor will I honor any person who murders innocents using the justification that it was either "following orders" or "tactically necessary".

There were planes"up" for weeks after the event, around the clock.

These were there to shoot down threatening aricraft.

This alone should prove that Bush was well prepared to do what was necessary.

To think he'd lie about one and not another, is just plain stupid.

If the 4th plane was headed for DNC headquarters, they (rats) would have blamed Bush for saving the dnc for some political reason, like just to humiliate them in te next election cycle.
