Unfortunately, he is correct. They shouldn't go gunning for the messenger in this case.

He's right! the memory of 9-11 WILL fade from people's memories, and indeed it already has started. Sad, but true. A few will never forget, most are trying to forget, too many have already forgotten.

"...the terrorist tragedy of September 11th will fade from people's minds."Actually, I think, what is perceived as memory fading is really the phenomenon of the enormity of the crime not entering the conscience to the depth of memory. The commandeering four jetliners with hundreds of human beings on board and intentionally crashing them into three building with thousands of human beings inside is still a big chunk of tragedy for the brain to absorb. It will take time, and possibly another attack.

Yup and if New Yorkers vote for liberal idiots like Jerome "Jabba the Hut" Nadler and Chuckie Schumer and the Hildabeast, its not exactly fair to shoot the messenger. They're doing a fine job of it themselves. Maybe Pierce Brosnan is sounding insensitive, but he's only pointing out the obvious. I do hope we remember 911 and don't allow money or anything else to get in the way of recalling why that one day changed our lives forever.

Pierce Brosnan couldn't carry Sean Connery's jock strap.
To: Benrand
And September 11th will fade in people's minds because there is money to be made. It's about commerce." Well, he should have qualified the statement by stating "Hollyweird people"

ireland isn't anywhere near the soviet union or germany. i suggest you get a map. it might help. The distance from Dublin to Frankfurt is less than that from Boston to Chicago or LA to Santa Fe, NM.
Ireland is part of "Europe" economically, politically and historically. Its bloody history, tragic to be sure, is Europe's.

I wonder how many "terrorists" he says he will be fighting will be of the Islamic brand?
Probably none.

Bond, James Bond

The writer and historian Paul Johnson observed of the attack on America, "Bold and uncompromising words were spoken by American
(and British) leaders in the immediate response to the Manhattan
Massacre. But they may be succeeded by creeping appeasement
unless public opinion insists that these leaders stick to their initial
resolve to destroy international terrorism completely."
How many times in recent months have we been advised by our leaders to be "watchful" and at the same time to "go about business as usual"? There is a fundamental problem at the heart of the war against terrorism - like all wars, it is economically costly if fought with vigor.
Is the public will to fight terrorism there? I think it would be if properly directed but at present it is not. People will not give up a comfortable life voluntarily unless they clearly understand why they must make sacrifices. And making sacrifices is not the foundation of our present economy. This country isn't in World War II "fight to win" mode, though there are many individuals who love their country and would fight to preserve her. But the political leadership dithers about, left and right, unable to define for us a clearcut vision of how to fight terrorism, or what it means to do so. Appeasement is what rules as a result.
What Brosnan could do, if he had anything constructive to offer, is be part of a Hollywood movement to explain "Why We Fight", as was created during WWII. But of course, imagine Hollywood doing that today! They wouldn't know where to begin.

He could have put it a bit more -- or a lot more -- tactfully, but he's right. People forget even the unforgettable.

I think my wife is still perturbed with me...BWAHAHAHAHA!!! The Latin Bomb and I both enjoy that movie. After all, Antonio is no slouch in the looks department (I have doubts about his taste in women, but...)
So tell your wife there's something in Mask of Zorro for everyone.

He certainly reflects the amoral, ahistorical, mercenary nature of Hollywood culture.Sounds libertarian to me.
To: Sabatier
They would be making films showing that we fight so Heather can have two mommies.
There will be no progress along the lines you indicate until the RAT/media power to impend is significantly reduced and I see nothing indicating the braindead American people is about to wake up and can enough of them to do any good.
To: Willie Green
Libertarians can be called mercenary, yes.
Amoral? Only if you don't like their morality.
Ahistorical? Clearly false, if you read a spectrum of their material. Of course, you can disagree with their read of history, but can't realistically say they ignore or are ignorant of it.

Just wait till the elections and watch as RATS are elected in far greater numbers than a rational, concerned and knowledgeable electorate would produce. Then you will see Brosnan was right on the money.Agreed. Brosnan has it right. 9/11 has already faded from most memories in this country, the press are back to attacking the President as witnessed by the foaming mouths at Ari's press conference this morning. The courts are already attacking moral values again (thanks to Kalifornia we admonish God), the courts are already attacking the validity of celebrating the 4th (thanks once again to Kalifornia).
On a local scale, the flags in my neighborhood disappeared within weeks of 9/11, here in Washington political correctness has intensified (you cannot call anyone oriental here any longer, you must call them asian by law), and everyone is walking around as if nothing happened.
What amazes me is the fact that everone is hopping up and down predicting sweeping victories this November. My, my....how soon we forget how tight the presidential races was and how the left tried to steal the election. How dense can people be? Do they think the population that supported the dems somehow magically changed their minds and came over to our side, or somehow disappeared to a far off planet to leave nothing but GOP voters? Get a clue. It's a war. The dems fight it like one and approach it like one and until the GOP'ers in this country get a clue and respond in kind, they'll be in for a rude shock. No from what I've seen Brosnan was right on a few points. The "pollyana, everythings okay" attitude still prevails in this country.

I think he's right. The memory is already fading, isn't it?
