Meeting in Jerusalem Covered by Newsletter
Professor Eliyahu Rips, the Israeli Bible code pioneer who is featured in both best-selling Michael Drosnin books, was one of the presenters at the International Torah Code Society (ITCS) meeting in Jerusalem in June of last year. A full report on the two-day meeting appeared in the most recent edition of the Torah Soft News, published by Israeli software maker TorahSoft Ltd.
Rips presented the paper Multiple Meetings and Other Structural Patterns, showing relationships between long ELSs in the Torah and their locations near mentions in the surface text of similar themes. The shortest skip occurrence of the five-letter Hebrew term for “the murderer” ([Hebrew characters]) in the Torah occurs near the story of Cain and Abel in early Genesis, for instance. The paper featured more than 300 comparable examples.
The ITCS limits its code research to the Torah, or the first five books of the Bible.

Washington in Fear Update
Teen sniper suspect John Lee Malvo was indicted as an adult in late January for his role in the Washington area shootings last fall. The charges mean he could face the death penalty. They also confirm what Bible codes said about Malvo's role as the shooter in at least some of the killings.
Montreal researcher Moshe Shak found codes pointing to the 17-year-old suspect in late October. We published a report on all of his findings a month after that in the
HERE: December issue: http://www.biblecodedigest.com/page.php/121 Then, four weeks later, on December 22, prosecutors announced that evidence pointed to Malvo as the shooter in most if not all of the shootings.

King David is Jesus as God
Codes that make theological statements are rare, but this recent find is intriguing. One interesting sidebar to the story of the King David codes we have been presenting in recent issues is an extension of a David ELS we discovered during our research. It is only 13 letters long with a skip of 14,978, but it is rich in meaning— King David is Jesus as God.
David is often used as a prophetic substitute for Christ in the Old Testament, fulfilling promises he was given about his lineage producing the Messiah. For instance, in Ezekiel 34:23-24:
I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd. I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them. I the Lord have spoken. (NIV)
Prophetic references to David as a future leader are seen in such passages as Jeremiah 33:17:
For this is what the Lord says: “David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel . . . “ (NIV)
The surface text of the Bible clearly states that Jesus was God. When He was being challenged by the religious leaders of His day, He told them that He was the same Jehovah who had spoken with their father Moses out of the burning bush:
”I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I AM! ” (NIV)
These were God’s words meaning that He had always existed. At this point they picked up stones to kill Him, but He slipped away because it was not yet His time to die.
While Bible codes are not reliable enough to serve as a basis for one's belief, it is fascinating to observe their content and apparent consistency with the literal text.
[Qx: I would say, the science and experience with the Bible Codes is not near so extensive as that with the surface text. Perhaps 300 years of experience with them would afford the same filtering out that the ?Council of Trent? provided for the declaration of what comprised the Canon of the surface text of Scripture.]
The ELS is shown below. It travels backward from I Kings 8 to Joshua 8, and the four highlighted letters—the last two letters of the word meaning “the king” and the first two letters of the Hebrew for “David”—are in some extremely interesting passages.
For instance, the lamed crosses the verse 2 Samuel 19:7, in which David’s top general Joab is in the midst of giving the king a reality check. David is mourning his son, Absalom, who has just been killed, and has forgotten to be a leader to his people. The final kaf is in 2 Samuel 12:3, during the prophet Nathan’s parable to David about the true meaning of his sin with Bathsheba.
The first letter of David’s name is in 2 Samuel 1:26 where the soon-to-be king is lamenting the deaths of Saul and Jonathan. In the very next verse is the famous cry, “How are the mighty fallen and the weapons of war perished.”
Finally, the vav appears in ! Samuel 23:3, where just before the battle of Keilah, his men tell David that they are afraid. This is the place where David’s name actually appears in the passage crossed by the ELS.
Another Take on the Word “Armageddon”
Subscriber Paul Phelps has an interesting perspective on the term "Armageddon," which he writes about in the following article. Paul is a topic writer with a series of essays mainly relating to prophecies about the New Earth. He has many years experience as a house church teacher. His present residence is near Philadelphia. We introduced a collection of Armageddon codes in the August 2002: http://www.biblecodedigest.com/page.php/93 issue and expanded our covereage in the December 2002 issue.
The Greek word Armageddon in Rev. 16:16 has a basis in Hebrew grammar that is not often explained and the prophetic significance is affected. As a place name Megiddo is the Jezreel valley fortress in northern Israel, but the name has no final “n” letter.
Megiddon with a final “n” is only found in the Zech. 12:11 text. This spelling distinction is erased in many Bible versions but King James has it:
In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon Root ideas are “gather,” “to cut” (GADÀD) and “troops” (GADÙD). Megiddo is “gathering of troops” and final “n” infers “place of . . .” So Megiddon may not be a name but rather a generic term for a battlefield, “place of gathering of troops.” It is not credible that “Ar” is transliterated from “har” (mountain). No mountain (har) is mentioned in Megiddo texts, and the valley beside Megiddo is always called Jezreel.
A likely explanation has been overlooked although the clue is in the Zechariah text. Hadad and Rimmon are two gods of ancient Syria, which were not known in Israel at any time. The mourning of Hadad-Rimmon must be in Syria. In Hebrew, Syria is Aram. It becomes Arm– if joined in compound to another word. So the Greek word Armageddon (Rev. 16:16) is a transliteration of Aram + megiddon, and means “the place in Syria of the gathering of troops.”
Zechariah 12:11 mentions a “valley” or “plain.” This might be the northeastern Syrian plain facing the Euphrates River. Prophetically this is where the Eastern troops cross the Euphrates River (Rev. 16:12). This interpretation removes the Armageddon scenario from Israel and puts it in Syria. The mourning of Hadad-Rimmon (Zech. 12:11) could be the mourning for the dead after Armageddon.
This battle must be near the Euphrates for that is where the antichrist will try to stop the Eastern army [Qx: The Biblical "King of the East" believed by many to be China--but could perhaps be India with the Islamic '-stans' e.g. Turkestan, Kazakhstan etc.] from reaching Jerusalem or other nearby areas. Armageddon might not involve Israel for Israel is nowhere mentioned. It has rather to do with the last-day war between the more westerly antichrist empire and the Eastern kingdoms. Regarding antichrist it is confirmed in Daniel 11:44,
But news from the east and the north shall trouble him; therefore he shall go out with great fury to destroy and annihilate many.
But this war results in the annihilation (in Syria) of the antichrist army, battling the Eastern forces (northeast of Jerusalem, v 45). The armies then called by the “three frogs” (evil spirits, Rev. 12:13-14) are a last effort by antichrist to stop the Eastern forces at the Euphrates River. Hence the Eastern forces are not coming against Israel but against antichrist armies based in west Asia.
That can be the reason God opens the river before them, because they are serving His purpose. God's act of opening the Euphrates River giving entry to these kings of the East might relate to Isaiah 11:11,15b-16; 41:2-3,8-9,25; 46:11; 51:10-11; and Joel 2:11. No Bible text predicts that the kingdoms of the East will ever attack Jerusalem.
Armageddon is not the final war but it is the war to destroy antichrist’s main army. The final war is Israel’s “Battle of Jerusalem,” an aftermath war fought by Israelis against the forces occupying Jerusalem. Then is the time that antichrist is finally defeated. In this scenario there is no need to assume the Eastern army attacks Jerusalem. The defeat of antichrist’s main army is their appointed goal.

Most Recent Long ELS Findings Persist in Amazing
As world tensions increase, our research continues to produce lengthy ELSs that seem to underscore—and in some cases to illuminate—current events. Some of these codes are just amazing.
Within a few hours of the September 11 attacks on the U. S., we had found Saddam Hussein’s involvement in them indicated by ELSs concerning the event. His full name appears only twice in the Hebrew Old Testament. One of them appears in Ezekiel 37:2 with a huge skip of 150,684 between its seven Hebrew letters. So it begins in Leviticus, the third book of the Tanakh and ends in Nehemiah, the third book from the end of the Tanakh (whose books are arranged differently than the Christian Old Testament).
This was one of the clues that caused us to focus our attention on this massive cluster as we searched for codes about 911. (By the way, the second Saddam ELS appears with a skip of--10,142 in 1 and 2 Samuel. Our research into this area of the Tanakh has not produced much to tie in with our current knowledge of Hussein’s activities, but perhaps future events will show us its significance.)
Now the U. S. has announced it has solid intelligence evidence of the Iraqi dictator’s relationship with al Qaeda. Secretary of State Colin Powell is expected to reveal details of this intelligence at the U. N. on Wednesday, February 5.
In addition to the Ezekiel 37 cluster, we have discovered several other clusters about “end times” people. places and events.

The longest code ever discovered (a 61-letter ELS) appears in each of the first four clusters, ostensibly linking them together. That code reads, There is Quarrel in His Speeches. A Living Brother Uttered Words to Them and to Me. And Zubaidah Turned to His Sea, Without Then Lying for a Whole Week. Oh, the Mountain of Her Interior Will Bear a Testimonial to Her Name.
The following new code finds were located in these clusters, listed according to significance:
Ezekiel 37 cluster:
Antichrist of the People; Where is the Belief in His Coming? (also appears in Ezekiel 40), 18 letters, skip 7,094. We have found quite a few antichrist ELSs, but none that help clear up the mystery of who he will be and where he will come from, although one of them in the Ezekiel 40 cluster drops a few hints.
The Beauty in Me was Quite Destroyed by Binalshibh, 17 letters, skip 309. Ramzi Binalshieb is the al Qaeda lieutenant who was arrested last year in Pakistan and has allegedly been the source of a great deal of intelligence useful in the war against terrorism.
Jehovah is My God. The Perpetuity of Israel is the Messiah's Passion (also appears in Jeremiah 17), 16 letters, skip 11,801. This beautiful ELS can be appreciated by both Jews and Christians. It also affirms what both the Old and New Testaments say about the outcome of this nation, despite the threats of terrorists.
God is Like Fire, Tyrant Saddam! (also appears in Daniel 2-3), 13 letters, skip 43,535. This fascinating warning for Iraq’s deceptive leader could be about his “end end game.”
Ezekiel 40 cluster:
The Good Fortune of Illumination Happened to Me. Let Jesus the King Live, 22 letters, Skip 21,750. We were not looking for a “Jesus code” in this context. It came up during a search of the Tanakh for instances of Jesus the King as part of another project we were working on. Perhaps it indicates a spiritual revival among many during the crisis of war somehow connected to the Third Temple that is indicated in this cluster. Prophecy seems to say that there will be a massive acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Messiah by citizens of Israel during an end times crisis (Revelation 7:1-8).
The Generation of Antichrist will Throw His Mother and the Name at Us, 21 letters, Skip 15,883. This could be read as saying that those who back the rise of a world ruler will promote him by invoking a Jewish blood lineage through his mother, and by declaring that he believes in or is supported by God. The nation of Israel, when determining an applicant’s desire for citizenship, bases whether or not he is Jewish on his mother’s pedigree. Our Hebrew consultant, Nathan Jacobi, says that “if a person is crazy enough to want to be Jewish, then they should be accepted as Jewish.” However, that is not good enough for the Israeli government. “The Name” is a well-known Jewish term for God, used in place of the tetragrammaton YHVH, or Yahweh, which many orthodox Jews believe should never be written or spoken.
Incidentally, here is a code that could be seen as predicting the future. It may well do that. However, our position continues to be that you can't (and shouldn't) use codes to tell the future.
Daniel 2 cluster:
Take to Her the Wine of Fear, but the Newborn One is Bitter, 19 letters, skip 22. We have been attempting to find a definitive code that would suggest that the Newborn One to be the U.S., but have been unsuccessful so far. When contrasted with nations like Israel, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Britain and so many others, the United States is certainly a baby, having been in existence for a mere 227 years.
Hang Her in the Abyss. Where is the Third Temple? 19 letters, skip 12,188. The dictionary defines abyss as a bottomless pit. Revelation uses Abyss as the place where Satan lives and where he will be condemned to live forever, after Christ’s return and just before the Millennium, or thousand year reign of Christ on earth, begins. Revelation 20:3 reads, “He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.” The “her” mentioned in the ELS may refer to the “great prostitute” of Revelation 17. Verse 15 of that chapter reads, “Then the angel said to me, ‘The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages.’”
A Tiger has Invaded. Where did the Newborn One Lose His Way? 15 letters, skip 61. Tiger can refer to “a fierce, daring, or aggressive person or quality.” Tigers are often associated with Asian nations. The South Korean army, for instance, recently adopted the tiger as its symbol. This may have a connection to Armageddon, and the armies of the east that march west to take part in the battle.
God is the Law, and My God's Prince is the Newborn One, 14 letters, skip 235. This term seems to indicate that Jesus Christ is the Newborn One, making it more appropriate with the ELSs in the Micah 5 cluster. However, it could be the first of other codes about Christ that are yet to be discovered within this cluster.
Micah 5 cluster:
Third Temple, the Fullness of the Illness will take Place. And a Land will Emerge from a Tight Place. God is Lofty, and it is Time for a Prince, 41 letters, skip 9,846. We’re not sure what “fullness of the illness will take place” is referring to. It could be a “pestilence” such as AIDS or another disease. Jesus warned his disciples about the last days in Matthew 24:7, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” It may also refer to an illness introduced by bio-weaponry. The “land will emerge from a tight place” could mean Israel, which is certainly in such a spot. “It is time for a prince” might be an introduction for the coming (or second coming, depending on your point of view) of the Messiah, who is called “Prince” several times in the Bible.
Lightning will hit Joseph, the City of Their Return, 18 letters, skip 48. It almost seems like this code could be a part of a second cluster in this same area of Micah 5 concerning the birth of Christ . Or it may become clear what it refers to with more time.
Isaiah 53 cluster:
Give Them a Jewish Messiah Who will Become a Priest (also appears in Micah 5 and Proverbs 15, the two clusters concerning the birth of Christ), 17 letters, skip 40,066. This is not one of the longest codes in the Isaiah 53 cluster REACHABLE THROUGH MAIN BCDIGEST PAGE HERE: http://www.biblecodedigest.com/page.php/”/page/php/9 concerning the last days of Christ, but it is certainly one of the most powerful we have ever discovered in terms of its message and its relevancy to the context of this massive collection of codes. It is even close to being a one-sentence summation of the surface text of Isaiah 53. Here is what Hebrews 7 says about Christ and His priesthood:
”If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the law was given to the people), why was there still need for another priest to come—one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law. He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe, and no one from that tribe has ever served at the altar. For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. For it is declared:
’You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.’” (NIV)
The fact that this beautiful ELS also appears in both of the Christmas clusters makes it even more compelling.
Bemoan the Prince, Jesus the King, 14 letters, skip 16. Here is another code that is contextually excellent and casts Jesus in both his “princely” and “kingly” roles. As the cluster features codes on the details of his arrest, conviction, crucifixion and resurrection, its message fits in strongly with the literal text.
