GOP Cleaning House: Complete Staff Fired, Including Fore

SPRINGFIELD - The Republican State Central Committee met Monday for close to five hours as the problems plaguing the party continue to abound.
Not only was the party chief's resignation accepted at the meeting, but all of the GOP staff was fired, including Allen Fore, the party's Executive Director.
When the IL GOP staff returned to their office in Springfield after the meeting, the key didn't work in the lock. The staff was told to write letters of resignation and that Jim Ryan would phone each of them today, tomorrow or Thursday and let them know whether or not their resignation was accepted.
Allen Fore, the brand new Executive Director, just installed in January, has been replaced with the former director, Brad Goodrich.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a committeeman reported that, "Any staff member who wishes to re-apply, will be given the chance to interview all over again, but this committee is not going to hire staffers back like it is business as usual. Our party is not in disarray - we just have to sweep the house clean before we move in the new furniture!"
The GOP candidate for governor, Attorney General Jim Ryan was in attendance at this week's meeting, a follow-up to one two weeks ago, when State Rep. Lee Daniels (R-Elmhurst) was forced to resign his post as party chairman).
"Improprieties have taken place in our party, and I'm fed up with it," said Ryan. Ryan also talked at some length about possible permanent replacements for Daniels as head of the Illinois GOP.
The meeting had several occasions when the exchange became heated. "If anyone in my party has broken the law," said Steve Meyer State Committeeman from Oak Park, "and he is proven guilty, then he should be punished - and be thrown in jail." Several of those in attendance commented that Meyer's comments and gaze were directed at Lee Daniels. "We all remember what Clinton did, covering it up with his lies and more lies to the point where he lost all respect. If we have people who have to pay the price (said directly while looking at Daniels) then let's pay that price now."
Meyer's comments where greeted by Daniels responding with an expletive under his breath. Several in the room were close enough to hear.
"We have a couple of guys, mainly the governor and Daniels who have messed this thing up," said one committeeman who attended but wished to remain anonymous, "This committee is dedicated to moving the party to the right."
It had been widely reported on Monday that the committee might consider a formal resolution to request Governor Ryan to step down from his post prior to November 5.
"We have talked about it," said Meyer, "But the first step was to rid the state leadership of Daniels. We haven't addressed it yet, but we have the option of still asking George to step aside."
"I think we should not only have George step down," said a committeeman, "But give the Governor's mansion to Blagojevich for the next four months and let Illinois see how really badly he can screw this state up!"
Then why didn't you do anything about it when you were Attorney General, JIM?

Normally this would make me proud to be a Republican (albeit by chance, since the pubby party is home to Conservatism for now) But, of course as you point out.. the man was the AG.
Why didn't he do something about it then as opposed to grandstanding now?
The millionaire Jesse Jackson should've been put in jail for tax evasion also.
The only republican I refused to vote for in my life. I voted Reform that year since there's no way I was going to vote for a Democrat while they were letting Clinton get away with his crimes.

Political pressure to not do the right thing.
Jim Ryan did nothing about the License for Bribes Scandal, out of state U.S. Attorneys had to come in and investigate this corruption, basically doing Jim Ryan's job. I personally hope that Ryan loses the election for this severe dereliction of duty on his part.
If Jim Ryan could not do his job as Illinois Attorney General, I shudder to think of why he feels he deserves the position of Illinois' Governor.
