You don't waste a beer, at least not a good one!
You go to the local supermarket and buy the cheapest stuff they've got...like at my Safeway, I buy two 32-oz. bottles of Ol' Milwaukee at 2fer$3 to boil the brats in. Add a half pound of real butter and a medium yellow onion, sliced. Bring the 'secret sauce' to a simmer, plop in the brats after they've been browned, and let 'em soak it up. That's good for 5 dozen brats!
