The black activist was offered thousands of dollars as a cut for arranging bulk sales of cocaine on the 1983 videotape, which will be shown tonight on HBO's "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel."

1983? Is oreilly slipping ? if this tape is the real thing why didnt the government use it a long time ago to put him away? if it would have been John Q Citizen we would have been locked up and the key tossed away!

Must have came along with those 900+ FBI files the Clintons were holding for safe keeping.

Because the tape doesn't provide any evidence of a crime. Sharpton was offered the oppurtunity to go into the narcotics business, and his response was polite indifference.

Why has the tape surfaced now? Because we are on the cusp of a Rev. Al smear campaign orchestrated by his fellow democraps who don't want to have to deal with him as a serious candidate for the democrapic presidential nomination, and possible third-party candidate.

I was wondering what was the real agenda under the tape also. I think it is a real tape but instead of cashiering in Sharpton, someone decided to use this longterm... wonder if now the public eye will look at the books and follow the money trail from Sharpton. Someone (Hillary?) has decided his usefulness is done.

If no drug deal was consumated, where is the crime? A drug lord can offer me a deal on drugs but unless I accept, there is NO crime. However, I don't doubt that Sharpton has been hanging out with sleazy characters but the fact is, no crime was committed on that tape by Sharpton.

From what I understand, the FBI cut some kind of deal with him for information on other black activists.

Sharpton could never win the 2004 Presidential election but he could be spoiler for another democrat candidate. Thus making it almost impossible for the media and democrats to steal the 2004 Presidential election. They tried it in 2000 and almost got away with it.
