[history]
The poisonous Japanese pufferfish, known as fugu to gourmets who risk their lives eating it, has yielded valuable new genetic information in the quest for deeper knowledge of the basics of human heredity and disease.
Led by gene-mappers at the Joint Genome Institute in Walnut Creek, an international team of scientists has analyzed and assembled a virtually complete draft of all the genes in the deadly fish, the researchers report.

I always thought there was a resemblance...

It appears that all gene-based lifeforms are interrelated.

That makes for a good "caption" to the "Caption This" picture of Gore the other day!!

Thus, the new advance in understanding fugu genetics should play an important role, the scientists say, in "highlighting the extent of protein evolution in the 450 million years since teleosts and mammals diverged. Since there are people around who will make the maximum hay from the slightest confusion, the above sentence does not mean that mammals directly diverged from fish 450 million years ago. Amphibians diverged from fish. Later, reptiles diverged from amphibians. Early on, a group of reptiles diverged from the rest of the bunch and became "mammal-like," although it took many more millions of years to become recognizeably true mammals.

Before you gloat, or puff, remember, everything is proof of creationism. Which doesn't exist. Or does, depending.

Humans Are Three Percent Puffer FishWhere does this number come from? What does it mean? We share at least 3/4 of our genes with puffer fish. Puffer fish don't carry the "junk" we do.

You know not what you speak of.
Don't insult that poor fish like that.

So I guess you're saying cannibals have a "junk" food diet ...?
