Michelle Malkin for INS Chief
Vanity | August 16th, 2002 | Sabertooth

Posted on 08/16/2002 12:43:09 PM PDT by Sabertooth

She's a successful politicial columnist, a rock-ribbed conservative Republican, the daughter of Philippino immigrants, and passionately opposed to the invasion of Illegal Aliens into our nation.

Michelle Malkin would be a blockbuster selection for President Bush as the new INS Chief, in the wake of the retirement announcement of current Chief James Ziglar.

Let the Democrats try and demagogue her.

If you want to be serious, consider Guiliani, if he'll take the pay cut.

What's his position on Illegals?

I truly have no good suggestions on this one. But there are some that I don't think Bush would ever nominate (Buchanan for example.) This actually may work in Michelle's favor since there really isn't a 'leading' immigration voice, other than Tancredo- and he may be too much of a loose cannon to make it threw confirmation.

Buchanan would never be nominated, and will never pass the Senate. He's crossed the line with the Bush family, and is way too easy for the Dems to charicature.

I don't think Bush is all that fond of Tancredo, so I don't see him getting the nod. Someone else suggested Rick Santorum, but that's too dicey with the Senate up for grabs. We need those guys in Congress anyway.

Among her other assets, Malkin is the daughter of legal immigrants, and would be tough to bork as some angry, white male fringer.

I want to see who leads the Immigration enforcement department under the Homeland Security Agency. That will be more telling than whoever replaces Zigler as the head of the INS.

Both are of equal interest to me.

What was Ziglar's experience?

I remember watching James Ziglar answering questions in front of the judiciary committee in the last 6 months and a demoRat was grilling him over the latest INS snafu and he asked Ziglar what was his experience to lead the INS and the nitwit said that he knew some immigrants. That was it, I nearly fell over in my chair. This was after 9-11 and this was the answer he gave. He is such an idiot and that is why the President appointed him to this job. Nobody inside the beltway wants the INS to function correctly. It is their little department of Racial division and they use it to pit American against each other and to flood our country with slave labor and illegal votes.

Michlle Malkin would be much more qualified then James Ziglar, at least we know she has a thinking, working brain.

This is an opportunity for him to shut his critics up.

That would be nice..we've got a Senate to win. Thanks to PhiKapMom, I'll be emailing Sensenbrenner on Monday.

She could accomplish wonders, just in us having her name up front and personal.

I wouldn't mind Malkin, but an even better choice would be Patrick J. Buchanan.

You may be right, but another nominee like Ziglar would be very illuminating, wouldn't it?

Many Bush defenders have blamed the lackluster performance of the INS on the current Chief.

Whomever Bush nominates, it will be indicative of the President's true sentiments regarding Illegal Aliens. This is an opportunity for him to shut his critics up.

It is likely that he will nominate someone pro-illegal immigration just to slap the face of 70% of the American public. Look for somebody out of the Chamber of Commerce, big business, the crowd that loves cheap labor; or, equally likely, someone "Hispanic", to pander to the "Hispanic" vote this fall.

Hoping that GWB or, in reality, Karl Rove will do the sensible political thing may be wishful thinking.

As I just posted, Buchanan. Now, Buchanan is never going to be considered, but neither is Malkin. Either would be a godsend compared to whoever is ultimately appointed (knowing my luck, it will probably be Michael Barone).

Say, does the head of the INS have to be an American citizen. I hear Jean-Marie Le Pen is looking for a new job. I think he would be perfect for this one.

I have that fear as well.

But for now, I'm going to try and be as constructive as I can in this golden opportunity for the President to get his policies straight on the matter of Illegal Aliens.

If he fails, if our fears are realized, many eyes will be opened.

It's been said that those critical of President Bush, as I have been, never offer solutions.

I'm suggesting one which I believe has merit. There is much that would be appealing about a Malkin nomination, to some rather disparate factions within the GOP.

Being reasonable, I'm willing to listen to other suggestions.

Well, I've never been critical of Bush's immigration policies myself. As freepers go, this is one of the few issues where I find myself on the other side of the fence.
