Michelle Malkin for INS Chief
Vanity | August 16th, 2002 | Sabertooth

Posted on 08/16/2002 12:43:09 PM PDT by Sabertooth

She's a successful politicial columnist, a rock-ribbed conservative Republican, the daughter of Philippino immigrants, and passionately opposed to the invasion of Illegal Aliens into our nation.

Michelle Malkin would be a blockbuster selection for President Bush as the new INS Chief, in the wake of the retirement announcement of current Chief James Ziglar.

Let the Democrats try and demagogue her.

LOL Plus, its our opportunity to call the RATS racists. That's irresistable too!

Inasmuch as they are, this opportunity is too good to pass up.

A Freeper in charge of the INS? Now that would be something.

Was this guy Ziglar grooming anyone to take over or him? Is there another like-minded Libertarian on immigration that's on a fast-track to take his place?

Do you have the sinking feeling that this rat is jumping over-board, because of the threats of retaliation by terrorist organizations to take place on or after 9/11/2002.

Does it seem that he plans to leave someone else holding the bag for his total abdication of the INS's original mission?

If he isn't trying to promote one of his own Libertarian cronies for the job, wouldn't that be telling us something?

Does anyone smell a set-up?

good job girl!! I think this is a great idea also.
If any one from the 2 district in Wash State needs to know who to vote for in the primary to run against Rick Larson, as represenative, his name is Herb Meyers. I sent an email to all gop candiates running in the primary with 5 questions, all dealing with immigration, and he emailed me back. answered every question, and he has the same feelings and beliefs we do on illegal immigration. I know I should have put this on another thread, but this one looks like it is getting as lot of hits. lol

"Michelle was floored by the thread! Ziglar's resignation will be the topic of her next column."

This is the response I got from Michelle's husband this morning.

She would be a brilliant person for that job.

The left would pull out all the stops to defeat her though. Any past sin will come to light and be demagogued.

Unfortunately she might not handle the microscope.

If any of her columns are suitable for framing, this will be the one.

I doubt Saber has any empty space left on his walls, at this point.

Make that very incoherent.

Yes, there is a BIG difference between Condi Rice and Michelle Malkin. Malkin isn't qualified to head the INS. Her appointment to such a sensitive and important government post, in many ways, would be far worse then having Zeigler remain in charge. I think its crucial that President Bush appoint a qualified individual who would enforce America's immigration laws, especially as they relate to illegal border crossings. In America, no one should be rewarded for breaking the law, with legal status as a full citizen of the US.

Saber, you might just have started something good here; too early to tell :-)

Explain why you believe President Bush agrees with your statement.

Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., chairman of an immigration subcommittee, said he was saddened by Ziglar's decision. Ziglar has "always remembered that immigration is not the problem, terrorism is," Kennedy said in a statement.

FYI. This is excerpted from a newsmax article today, on Ziglar. the article states how Ziglar frequently clashed with Sensenbrenner. You may wish to email Newsmax of our draft effort to nominate Michelle for this position. Maybe get some major free publicity.

You should start an online petition drive and link it to FR for folks to sign here.

I've seen a few of those... how do we set one up?

Here's one of the sites that let you do a free peition, it looks pretty easy to do Petitiononline.com

There have been many posters speculating on WHY Ziglar is quitting. My personal opinion is that he was TOLD to resign. I know there are many on this thread who won't give Bush credit for anything, but this situation has all the hallmarks of a typical DC firing.

"I want to pursue opportunities in the private sector"
"I've spent many years in government service and I want to spend time with my family".

Many other statements like the above are used as typical diplo-speak to cover a canning.

In any case: GO MICHELLE, we need you at INS

I agree about the hallmarks, and I'll be more than happy to give President Bush the credit for sacking this loser Ziglar, on two conditions:

1. He's willing to take the credit.

2. Ziglar's replacement marks a turn in policy, and a newfound seriousness in the Bush Administration about the problem of Illegals.

That's what we're trying to do with this thread, right?
