NATO official in Russia is found dead
Wed Aug 21, 7:21 AM ET
MOSCOW - A German employee with the NATO ( news - web sites)'s military mission in Moscow has been found dead, NATO officials said Wednesday.
An investigation has been opened into the death of Olaf Schmunk, who worked as an office administrator, NATO's military liaison office confirmed. NATO officials refused to provide any other details. Moscow police also refused to comment.
Interfax news agency reported that Schmunk was 35 years old.
NATO opened its long-delayed mission in Moscow in May, on the eve of the summit meeting that inaugurated a new level of cooperation between Russia and its former Cold War foe.

I put forth the premise that this was a suicide...
Olaf Schmunk...he was tired of the jibes, and rather than change his name, say to, Bitger Schmunk, he decided to be done.

What is a "Schmunk" anyway? is it some new hybrid cross between a Shmuck and a chipmunk?
To: Enemy Of The State
Maybe a schmuck and as skunk.

Olaf Schmunk That's right. Olaf is not a German name. He must have been in a constant state of embarrassment. Friedrich, that is a German name. Ulrich. There are a lot of good ones. But Olaf?

A lot of suicides around lately?
Another odd set of circumstances was the Saudi prince that went in the desert and died of lack of water, the 42 year old Saudi prince that died of a heart attack, and the Saudi prince that died in the car accident all within days of each other.
Then we have Abu Nidal, the terrorists, who shot himself in the head 3, 4, or 5 times in Iraq depending on the source.

I put forth the premise that this was a suicide...Olaf Schmunk...he was tired of the jibes, and rather than change his name, say to, Bitger Schmunk, he decided to be done. Poor fellow. He and Mr. Odd had lots of baggage throughout life. Mr. Odd's story follows:
There once was a man named Odd. For all of his life, he lived with this name and the jokes it brought. As a boy, he was always the "odd man out." As a married man, he was part of the "odd couple." As he approached death, he was determined that there would be no more "odd" jokes. So he wrote in his will that the epithet on his tombstone would read: "Here lies an honest man and a lawyer." After his death, his family fulfilled his wishes. But whenever people wandered through the cemetery and read his tombstone, they always pointed to it and said "That's odd."

The President sure doesn't believe the Abu storyline - that's for sure. He mentioned it today and said he questioned whether it was a suicide. That's putting it tactfully.

My niece (who is Russian) just told me that Schmunk means jerk, stupid, lazy and dumb all mixed together.
He must have loved living in russia with a name like that.

Seeing as how he was a German NATO man and in a big city, my guess is he died a sordid death deep in the Red Light district.
