RAJOURI, Aug 24: Two days after the polling process was set in motion for twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch with notification for first phase of polling, the terrorists massacred 10 civilians including three brothers and three women in two incidents at Thanna Mandi and Manajakote areas of Rajouri district late last night.
Of 10 fatalities, six were members of a Gujjar family. All of them had been beheaded brutally by the terrorists, official sources said, adding not even a single shot was fired by the ultras in killing the civilians. Father of a prominent doctor Nissar Ahmed, posted in Thanna Mandi hospital, was among the victims.
They said a group of eight to 10 terrorists descended on the village Morha Sokar near Gai Chobata in Dudasan area of Thanna Mandi, about 13 kms from here at 2330 hours last night and kidnapped a 35-year old civilian Mohd Ashraf son of Mohd Alam. They took Mohd Ashraf to the houses of three Gujjar brothers Mohd Shaffi, Abdul Kareem and Master Badar Din, all sons of Kaka Gujjar.
Sources said the terrorists asked three brothers and their wives, who were present in the house to come out. Four terrorists took position in a room of Mohd Shaffis house and asked the family members to come inside one-by-one for important questioning in connection with their links with security forces.
First they beheaded Mohd Ashraf, whom they had brought with them from his house followed by three brothers and their three wives. Later, they proceeded to the house of Dr Nissar Ahmed, who was on duty in Thanna Mandi hospital and beheaded his father Mohd Hafiz son of Mohd Din at Morha Ghai, about 200 meters away from the first massacre site.
Deceased have been identified as Mohd Shaffi, 55, Abdul Kareem, 35 and Master Badar Din, 42, all brothers, Razi Begum, 32 and Shameem Akhter, 26, both wives of Abdul Kareem and Safeda Begum, 32, wife of Master Badar Din, all members of a family, Mohd Hafiz, father of Dr Nissar and Mohd Ashraf, 35, son of Mohd Alam.
All of them had been beheaded.
Sources said all but one family members couldnt imagine that the terrorists were going to kill them after calling them in a room. Only Razia Begum, who was called last, anticipated the threat to her life and ran out of the room. However, the terrorists over-powered her and beheaded her too.
SSP Rajouri Prithvi Raj Manhas and SHO Thanna Mandi Devinder Katoch rushed to the scene of carnage immediately after getting a report.
Sources said the terrorists were equipped with sophisticated weaponry but didnt use their weapons as it would have attracted the attention of army and police personnel in their nearby posts. While one of the terrorists put his hands on mouth of the victim, the other beheaded them. Same modus operandi was used in all the killings.
Police also recovered a slip from the house, which had been signed with the name of Mujahid, from the massacre site. The chit said the victims had helped security forces in effecting recoveries of a large quantity of arms and ammunition of the terrorists, a charge denied by local police as well as people, who said, the ultras were settling their personal scores on the name of killing informers.
According to sources, all three Gujjar brothers alongwith their families had earlier migrated from Thanna Mandi to Rajouri in view of the terrorist threats. While one of them Master Badar Din had returned to his house about six months back, two others had gone back only three days back. However, their children were still putting up in Rajouri.
While Mohd Shaffi had three sons including one Mohd Bashir, who was posted in Rajouri district, Abdul Kareem and Master Badar Din had four and three children respectively, all minor.
Meanwhile, another group of four terrorists struck in Manjakote last mid-night. They separated themselves in two groups. While one of the group slaughtered 23-year old Mohd Shamsher son of Mohd Aslam Damaal at village Hayatpur, another group beheaded Mohd Maroof, 27, son of Sakhi Mohd at Kalaali, Manjakote.
Mohd Maroof was a Home Guard, posted in Rajouri.
Here also, the terrorists left behind a slip which warned people against participation in the incoming Assembly elections and against getting recruited in police forces.
In the morning, the villagers of Hayatpura and Kalaali in Manjakote took bodies of the victims to Manjakote police station and blocked Manajakote-Rajouri road for more than two hours. Later, civilian and police officers persuaded the protesters to lift the road blockade.
Meanwhile, bodies of all eight civilians killed in Thanna Mandi and two in Manjakote were buried this evening after post-mortem was conducted on them. A large number of local people and senior officers attended the burial
"All I see turns to brown,
as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand,
as I scan this wasted land"
Whenever I heard these lyrics I have a very disturbing picture in my head of nukes blasting Kashmir to hell.
Perhaps they have learned that this method gets more press. Terror is the game.
Simple - These are 13th century wannabes - reliving the experiences of their forebearers.. And, following the text in their murderous and intolerant "holy" book.
Until America recognizes that the Islamic world is full of these murderous fanatics -- we are doomed.
America - alone if she must - must destroy massive numbers of these folks and destroy multiple major targets to convince these bastards to "back off"..
Semper Fi
No, a hispanic sounding name wasn't it? If these terrorists are choosing decapitation as their method of random terror because that is how they get their jollies, then they wouldn't mind if they are chosen and dispatched [despatched, alt. spelling] in their turn in a cold, quick, and professional manner like destroying rogue coyotes themselves, would they. So many terrorists, so little time, it seems.
