fiber imports from 1995-1999 Demand for hemp fiber stood at 1/2 of 1 percent of that.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "empty calories?"Even so-called "empty" calories can be converted to usable energy.
And most alcoholic beverages (such as beer and wine) contain other, non-alcoholic nutrients.

Ill concede that people exist who drink a glass of wine for their heart every day but they are as rare as honest men in Washington. Most people who drink do it to get drunk.

I will repeat my question, in a simpler and more literal way, so maybe you can comprehend it, then answer it.
In what way would the cultivation of hemp serve as a smokescreen for the legalization on marijuana?
To: wienerdog.com
make that legalization of marijuana. I need to make sure my question is absolutely clear.

A truly informed "monarchist" such as yourself would know that most of the respected crowns of Europe enjoyed a little snort of liquor now and then, to aid with their digestion.

I think the real reason for wanting industrial hemp approved is so the druggies can hide their stuff among the legal stuff.
One PA farmer tried to hide 40 or 60 acres inside his corn field. I had a friend and his brothers that scattered the seeds in the woods and had a 5 lb. harvest one year stashed in the attic of their parents farmhouse to dry out. They were dealing MJ, hash and who knows what else.
Another guy (a city refugee) did the same thing from his apartment. Don't know how he made out.
The stuff grows wild in PA, but I don't know if it's any good or not. My grandparents even got a plant in a small potted flower or vegetable. They grew it for awhile, thought it was neat, until someone pointed out that they could get prosecuted -- and it wasn't good example for the grandkids.

Just in case you've forgotten exactly how much is being pissed away.Good point. We need to increase the fines that are levied to make this program pay for itself.
To: Willie Green
"We need to increase the fines..."
Spoken like a true Eleanor Roosevelt Republican, your own unique brand of cracker-barrel Socialism.
But it's still Socialism, kiddo, no matter how you spin it.
I must say, I've always thought you were a patriot; now I see that you're just another nativist thug who wants all the good-paying gubmint jobs for good old boys.
Hey, Roscoe's lookin'; maybe you can help him out.
To: Willie Green
I also didn't know that beer was consumed at most meals in America because the water was contaminated.
Makes sense, I wasted a lot of Trout Unlimited money testing for E coli samples in one very productive river (and others as requested). Even the headwater samples had small Bac-T counts, if I remember right bears s*** in the woods -- and so did the Indians, except the Indians drank downstream.

But it's still Socialism, kiddo, no matter how you spin it. Nah. Socialism requires taxpayer subsidies.
I'm talking about making the WOD self-sufficient with higher fines.
Maybe we can even make it more efficient by deregulating and privatizing this facet of law enforcement.
Anybody who catches and turns in a druggie and their stash to proper authorities is entitled to all their other assets.
Something like that oughta work!
To: Willie Green
You will encourage people to plant drugs then you will get a lot of FALSE drug convictions that way.

A lot of royalty and the aristocracy were horrible drunks but they got drunk like a normal working guy at night after they were done with most of the business of ruling.

"Something like that oughta work!"
Something like that is working now.
It's called 'asset forfeiture', and it helps build Socialism in innumerable ways. ;^)
The best thing about it is, hardly any danged furriners get to cash in on it!
That's the best kind of Socialism, I think we can all agree.
To: wienerdog.com
You're either an idiot or a troll. Which is it? Or was that supposed to be funny? Hmmmmm.... must be some merit to my "privatization" plan...
looks like I struck one of the few nerves not damaged by substance abuse.
Quick, dude! Hide the stash! The neighbors might spot ya!
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

The WOD is winding down whether anyone cares to admit it or not.
The pro WOD folks are trying, without much success, to plug the leaks in a sinking ship.
These leaks are occuring in foreign arenas such as Britain, Canada, and Switzerland. And leaks are occuring at home, in areas such as State medical marijuana laws and legalization referenda in AZ and NV.
Personally, I think you all would have a better chance if you went back to the lurid films of the 30's.
At least they had women taking off their clothes and going for a midnight swim in the ocean!

Is that the best you can do? I don't even know how to respond to your wild accusations, but what did I say that implies I am breaking the law? And do you advocate a society where people have a financial incentive to make such off the wall accusations against their neighbors? Or are you a troll? You didn't really answer my question implicitly, but you seem to show all the signs of being a troll. I'm only responding to you because I'm bored.
OTOH, I am not ruling out my alternative explanation that you might just be an idiot.
To: Willie Green
My apologies to the libertarian druggies Are you also going to apologise to the rest of us constitutional conservatives who also hold that this is a useless and dangerous abuse of government power, but who resent your slanderous druggie label.
