Iraq has 157 chemical bombs: Pentagon
The Times of India ^ | Augustus 26 2002

WASHINGTON: Iraq has 157 bombs and 25 missile warheads suitable for germ agents anthrax, aflatoxin and botulinum, says a new Pentagon paper circulated among key allies and US lawmakers on Baghad's capability on Weapons of Mass Desstruction (WMD).

As the US debates on whether it should invade Iraq and if President George W Bush needs the Congress' approval for the same, the Pentagon paper maintains that Iraq has the "ability" to use chemical weapons in a battle.

On Saddam Hussein's nuclear weapons capability, it said "it is unclear as to how close Baghdad was to building nuclear weapons." Outside analysts, have however, suggested that Iraq is two years away from acquiring a nuclear weapon capability.

Opinion is sharply divided on the desirability and the need to engage in a new Gulf War -- this time possibly without allies except possibly Britain and against the opposition of the Arab world, Russia and China.

Democrats on the whole oppose a war. The Republicans, the President's party, are divided. In debates on television on Sunday, Republican Chief Whip Congressman Tom DeLay urged quick preemptive action against Saddam Hussein and said those advocating a go-slow approach were appeasers. DeLay reiterated his view on Fox News TV.

Would the Pentagon and the White House use the Times of India as their chosen medium in the debate?

With this article a message was just sent to Saddam ..."We know how many missiles you have and bombs...."

He will now wonder if we have "eyes" on his WMD and could take them out at any time.

Iraq has too many warheads.

If we remove Saddam's the number will be optimum.
