I'm constructing a special Michelle Malkin ping list.
Post to this thread if you'd like on or off (easier for me than Freepmail). Thanks.

I wonder what will happen when they/we start buying the ethanol cheaper through NAFTA from Mexico and South America...More subsidies?

I've corresponded with Michelle...please attach me to the Ping roster post haste! I'm reeling from the Cornell Researcher's evaluation...I thought US policies would be smarter than that...Energy per acre calculation is ANCIENT...Hello...HORSEPOWER....good gravy!

Ethanol's just another government boondoggle? Who would have thunk it?
Hey, we could save the taxpayers some money. Let's combine the Department of Energy and the INS/Border Patrol under Michelle.
Maybe she could take those billions we waste proping up ethanol production and spend them on immigration law enforcement.
There's a nifty slogan in there somewhere. Any ideas?

After 2012, this anti-free market maneuver would guarantee ethanol a growing fixed share of the country's fuel consumption every year, no matter what consumers actually demand or what better methods of reformulating gasoline come along. Here's where the problem is. The government shouldn't be supporting the production of ethanol, corn growers in the Midwest or anything else.
It's a lousy fuel, so what? Just force the consumer to use it. The sad thing is that these kinds of maneuvers diminish innovation. If the government didn't butt in, throwing money around, maybe, just maybe, with some research and potential for economic success, scientists might come up with a good alternate fuel source.

Here's where the problem is. The government shouldn't be supporting the production of ethanol, corn growers in the Midwest or anything else. The so called family farm is an emotional issue. Although huge outfits like ADM are the norm now, we still have a hang up with the concept of the family farm with the whole family pitching in to make a go of it and living on the economic fringe. Somehow, the American public needs to be detached from that family farm image as being the norm.

I recall seeing the two of you discussing ethanol on another thread the other day, so I thought I'd call your attention to this article.
To: Sabertooth
Thanks! I am also interested in learning more about this issue, which I freely admit I am not up to speed on.
