Thanks OneidaM. Freedomfriend, I'm completely patient with you on this one because their supposed rallying slogan IS CONFUSING. But the reality of who they are and what they represent is not. Hey trust us, the DC Chapter's not dumb!

If it is to protest the eco-terrorists, then I would have no problem you protesting them. However, I know how the media uses these things, and they will say that Freepers or Conservatives are protesting in favor of the WTO. The whole thing will be spun around, and in the end, we'll have problems anyway. We should all be protesting the World Bank, WTO and IMF. Hey, through the UN in as well. I have no problem with protesting as long as both groups (World Bank/IMF/WTO & Eco-terrorists) are protested and in plain visible site. Example, on a poster board.

I live in Georgia.

This is a clear case of the enemy of my enemy is still my enemy.

Hee hee, ya lost me! But trust me, these people coming to town are NOT our friends! Last year, they were protesting the war as part of their globalization theme. Expect they will again.

I think you are right about the average protestor out there. He's a leftist, anti-corporate, anti-everything fool.

But there are organizations directing and encouraging these protests, and they know perfectly well what they are doing and why. They are your ideological enemy, and they intend to wreck your world.

I hear you TOTALLY. Please note our signs are very specific to the causes of theirs that we oppose. We do NOT have e.g. PRO-global signs!! We have signs mocking their claim that the nation should not defend itself or that the war is "terrorist." I had a sign that said "Rally Against Terrorism, Not Your Country" in response to many signs claiming the war was racist. That sign is actually near the center of a photograph that's the subject of a separate thread. I'll find it and Freepmail it to you, 'cause it shows a lot of the DC Chapter members last year protesting against this group and you can see for yourself what the messages were. You'd have no problem with the signs, I betcha.

At the time, we mocked them for how so many of their supposed issues had anything to do with their supposed anti-globalization theme. They're just leftists looking for an excuse to trash my city and tie up traffic.

Yep. They were completely disjointed when they protested here in Seattle. Everyone had their own little pet "issue" they were trying to push down others' throats. Beyond the irritating tear gas, trash, downtown curfew, and awful traffic, it was really pathetic... but laughable at the same time.

Yup. Union money, I was thinking. Lots of these protestors don't seem like the type who would have money and the wit to take a shower, let alone travel all around.

Grimalkin, these free-markets under the guise of "Free-Trade" is about robbing America of its wealth through de-industrialization, de-manufacturing, the creation of an import-based economy, as well as huge trade deficits and higher taxes. Meanwhile, communist China is getting stronger, is able to build their military arsenal, and we're getting weak. More people are losing their jobs, real wealth is declining, average wage capacity is declining, and poverty is increasing. Eventually, as is now being seen (minus and dot-com boom) the whole thing will likely implode and our economy will crumble or become significantly weakened. After this happens, the United States will be at the mercy of globalism or these socialist nations, and what is left of America will be a memory.

American-First economic policies are worth supporting.

take a look at post 46 above, as further proof: I'm not lying to you.

Also, take a look at this thread of today about a photograph of our counterprotest last year that, ALARMINGLY, has shown up in the liberal media. Pigs do fly.

Look, you and Dog Gone can fight all you want to in this thread about globalization, but I can assure you -- just like the lead news article here said -- the guys that are coming to protest are coming to protest against capitalism and against national self-defense. In my backyard. I don't think *either* of you would fault me for holding up appropriate and specific signs. Last year someone had one that said "Seek Therapy." I thought that was good.

Trust me. Or rather, trust us. Our past threads show what kinds of signs we've put up and what we've counterprotested. You'd have nothing but praise for it.

Bit of an honor but an obligation to live in the nation's Capital. It's also my home. And there are a lot of military guys who are coming and going from battle from near this location. No way these guys should come and say the search for Bin Laden is racist and not have me hold up a counter-sign. I'd bet my last dime you'd be here with us if you lived in town. (Although Georgia's a nice place too.) But top of the evening to you and don't take Sauropod's posting wrong: it was most justified in context, for we've had our share of leftist disruptors about, and that probably explains people being careful.

Truly appreciate your concern. We'll do you proud.

I earned my Freep name, FreetheHostages, standing outside the Chinese embassy demanding they give us back our flight crew.

Opposing THEM does not imply acceptance of all forms of globalization.

It most certainly does...

Because some American socialists are against Saddam Hussein, that means Free Republic should be for him???

It's true, there are some at FR who own businesses that would love to see "globalisation"...Cheap labor, higher profits, at the cost of American Sovereignty and freedom...However, any American that has to "labor" for a living, has to oppose globalisation, whether he be a republican, democrat or neither of the two...

Dress it up any way you want, but I will never support it...

I neither approve of the WTO/IMF propping up failed anti-American dictatorships in Africa, nor do I have anything more kind than sheer disgust for our enemies who gather to protest against the WTO/IMF.

Both the protestors and the WTO/IMF are acting against current American interests, after all.

This doesn't sound like the DC Chapter is organizing a rally for the IMF. It sounds like a protest against radical leftists.

Thanks for that post. I'm a newbie to the DC Chapter and shouldn't presume to speak for the whole group, but that sure seems like my motivation. We're not just anti-though. We have lots of signs in support of our troops so maybe the liberal media has to cover more than just the anti-war stuff they're putting out. I would say that's right, but some of our signs were positive too. I had one that said, "Join Our Democracy." 'Cause a lot of these guys will tell you straight out, they don't like democracy.

They are, in the words of Jimmy V's bro, "useful idiots." I do recall he kept loudly informing them of their status as such last September.

OK then, its a fine line.. It's seems that these pinko's are the target. I have no problem with fair trade. Free Trade is a loose term these days. Capitalism is the only cure for poverty. I guess I'm sick of them all. Any thing that has the term "Global" in it get the hair standing up on my back.

Thanks. I see. Yes, I'd agree.

It's kinda like the Women's Group (that doesn't let men in) that's asking people to boycott CBS for broadcasting from Augusta (which doesn't let women in as members). Lol -- I'm female -- but it's one of those debates were you really wish both those self-appointed Democratic Women's Group people *and* CBS could both somehow lose.
