September 5, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - The Bush administration is telling Congress that Saddam Hussein is two to 10 years away from deploying a nuclear weapon, a development that would make Iraq an even more threatening power in the Mideast tinderbox.

Thee's something sobering about aquiring a nuke. You realize if you use it - you get nuked back.

Except with Saddam. He'll use it with no fingerprints. That's part of the delivery system he's developing.

With a nuke, sadman will try to establish his place in history as the preeminent arab muslim by destroying Israel.
Interesting that he thinks that would be a good way for history to remember him. Also if he were to have nukes, he would be able to intimidate his neighbors even more.
So the question is this, do we go to the mat for Israel?
If we go after sadman do his neighbors understand that we do it for them or will they all act like france and spit in the face of America?
It's a hard sell because many believe Israel isn't really any more of a friend then Egypt. That we kiss israel butt to placate the Jewish loby. While Israel is the largest recepient of American financial and military aid they still attack our ship and spy on us in our own country.
We turn our backs on genocide other places, why so concerned here?
These folks in the Mid-East have fought for 4000 years and nothing we do will put a stop to the continuation of hostilities. Too many assaults and murders for too many years. It's understandable, you kill my babies and I will hate you forever. You kill any of my family and forever I'll kill you given the chance.
Regardless of how the chips fall we need to support our troops. They are our friends, neighbors and our family.

When will Mexico have nukes to use against the gringos one day? Let's attack that country before they get these "weapons of mass destruction".

You need a mixture of things. A Whacko in charge (Hitler, Stalin, Saddam, etc), an evil desire to kill people, and a world in denial.

Exactly. Big difference between Mexico, which is non-threatening, and Iraq, where Saddam gassed his own people and during the Gulf War launched scud missiles into Israel. Anybody who thinks he wouldn't use it if he had it is dreaming. He'll probably hand any nuke he develops off to his terrorist buddies who'll most likely bring it over here and blow up one of our cities.

While i agree that Saddam is a factor that needs to be 'taken care of' i wonder how come we have been ignoring Pakistan (and for that matter Saudi Arabia ...but i know the answer to that one .....someone say fossil fuels)

Anyways, concentrating on Pakistan we observe this is an Islamic nation that is rife with subversive elements in a volatile political atmosphere, and furthermore is in possession of an array of atomic weapons. It has a government that took power through usurping the mantle by a coup de tat, and to make matters even worse Prez. Musharaff seems to be facing great pressure from Islamiacized radicals and his control seems to be questionable at best.

Moreover the Pakistani ISI service has been reported to have provided logistical assistance to the Taliban for years, and even worse has given al Queda itself valuable information. Pakistan was also one of the two countries to recognize the Taliban (the other was Saudi Arabia).

And the British Foreign Secretary said that Pakistan is the leading nation that poses a terrorist threat of magnitude. And some scenarios involve the ISI sneaking material (radoactive) to jehadis since some of the ISI members are quite 'questionable.' Musharaff is said to have little control over the goings on in the ISI.

Hence while we are going after Saddam (and we should since Saddam ...whether he has WMD or not ......is a killer of innocents and dangerous, and his threat needs to be negated). However while we are doing this should we also not defanging a nation that the Brits (and i believe MI6 is quite reliable) say that is the leading terrorist nation?

And why is Pakistan not in the 'Axis of Evil?' If North Korea is in that axis by all means Pakistan should be there. As i said i understand why the Saudis are not present (same reason why nothing happened to them even though 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi) , but Pakistan does not have any large oil reserves i know of. And if it is due to the 'help' they gave us in the Afghan war guarding the Kyber pass i do not think that qualifies! Chances are Osama (if he is alive) waltzed through Pakistani guards while they were 'looking the other way.'

And the Pakistani military folks can be quite fanatical. One (and i know i have repeated this statement several times) said that he would be willing to see the whole of Pakistan destroyed if he could just destroy one or two Indian cities! This was a Pakistani commander expressing his opinion that he would bear the thought of all major Pakistani cities being nuked by India if he could just nuke Bombay and Delhi!!!! What type of mentality is that?

Yet for some reason Pakistan managed to escape the 'Axis of Evil' when (apart from the Saudis) it is probably the most evil nation right now!

Someone know why they are not in the axis (unless it is due to the 'help' they gave us guarding the Pakistani/Afghanistan border)?

There is a lot of discussion going on the world over about the middle east etc - but I think everyone truly knows deep down inside that a nuclear war is inevitable - so - why not get ready for it?

I think eventually we here in The USA are going to personally experience a nuclear event - I pray for God's mercy...

conventional wisdom states that if you use a nuke someone else, your enemy, will use a nuke back at you - this is a valid argument and it only underscores the need to be prepared...

this is not a situation that you and/or I could ever avoid - it is meant to be...

no amount of reasoning, diplomacy, or appeasement can prevent the inevitable from happening...

I believe God's hand is at work here - and it is God's hand that will play out...

It amazes me that there are people who do not believe that there is a higher power to whom we must all answer and that we are all God's children...

The Clinton's were particularly disgusting in this way with their statements and actions against the religious in this world...

Now is also the time for deep meaningful prayer and consultation with The Lord...

A friend of mine said to me before shortly 9-11, "...if Jesus couldn't convince the world when he was here what makes you think you or I can?"

He is right...

Mexican Alzana is seeking to take over all of Southwest US. What parts of US are the Iraqis claiming?

Kind of hypocritical of you to complain about scuds when we were blasting Irag with cruise missiles and bombs day and night. And how about all the thousands of tons of explosives we dropped on that tiny defensless country of Serbia - killing 3,000 civilians? Why we even zapped those poor folks we depleted uranium weapons.

And, you point fingers at Iraq for firing a few scuds when they were under attack?????

Last I checked, those MEChA folks aren't in charge of Mexico. They don't rule it, nor play any role whatsoever in the government.

Were they under attack from Israel?

The Iraqis and Arabs view Israel in the same pot as the US.

The most stringent for us to attack Iraq comes from Israel and their supporters in the US.

Regarding Mexico:

Their President Fox just recently said something similar to not recognizing our borders and that the Mexicans have every right to break tgrough our borders whether we like it or not.

Iraq is not a threat to us - Mexico is.

Did you catch Peter Jenning on TV last night interviewing all those Pakistanis who believe that 9/11 was the work of jews and not bin laden or arabs of any kind?

He looked stunned, like all this hate and stupidity were a sudden revelation to him. I wish I could have reached into the TV and slapped him silly. We knew this a year ago. The main-stream media is just now catching on to the fact that most of the Arab world is filled with ignorant, hate-filled nuts that want to see the United States and Isreal destroyed. What a moron.

Because Colin Powell bonded with Musharraf back in his army days when Musharraf was probably training in the USA.
He bought the bill of goods sold by Musharraf that Pakistan would ally itself with the US in the war on terror.

But define ally - one who lets alqaeda run free in his country, the secret service that owns alqaeda. the ISI,

We needed a large contingent of troops in Pakistan.

What a SNAFU the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan is turning out to be.

But the bankruptness and contradiction of our Saudi/Paki strategy is too much to gloss over now.

One year after 9/11 and the two countries most responsible for 9/11 are our allies.

Money, Honey!

Reassuring to know that "many" Senators are not impressed by this kind of information. To them millions being blown up 2-10
years from now is like saying the universe may end in ten billion years. And these are the totally political nincompoops the President is supposed to "consult" with.

Funny, if you look at the map of most muslim arab nations, Israel isn't evident and the rest that you have missing is there.
