An ugly scene ( A Fine Liberal Whine--Cuomo)

Andrew M. Cuomo did his best to sound gracious Tuesday as he withdrew his candidacy for the governorship of New York, a week before the Democratic primary.

But the humiliated politician let out his true feelings later that day in a phone call to New York Times columnist Bob Herbert. In doing so, Mr. Cuomo cast a spotlight on the ugly racial politics for which the New York Democratic Party is becoming infamous.

The sound bite I heard of that Cuomo press conference was of King Slick saying, "The only person on this stage whose political career is over is ME."

Once again, even though it was Cuomo's press conference, it was all about Clintoon.

"I believe in my heart that if I did a negative ad [against Democratic rival Carl McCall], I would have won," said Mr. Cuomo,...

This guy was 20 points down, with the entire NY Demoncratic Machine lined up against him, and he thinks he could have turned that around with one attack ad? To say he is delusional is an understatement.

The fact that this delusional megalomaniacal hack is going to be hanging around NY politics for the next twenty years or so is great news for the Republicans. Look for him to step on his weenie time after time, and stir up the racial hornets next in primary after primary. With any luck, he will make the Demoncrats uncompetitive in a couple dozen races before he is through.

And BTW, I don't recall seeing one single negative ad directed at ANDREW, unless you count his own. ANDREW made his own bad press. He didn't need an opponent to do that for him.

If any African-American, anywhere, wants a free seat in Congress, they should run against ANDREW in 2004 in the Demoncratic Primary in whatever safe Congressional seat the Demoncratic Machine tries to arrange for him. All the African-American would have to do is show up, and the press and the racial hucksters of NY will be delighted to reprise this little play all over again. And surely the safe seat will be one that cannot be lost in the general election if the candidate has a (D) after his name.

This might be how Al Sharpton finally gets a real job!

A teacher can't properly use the word niggardly in a classroom, but Andy Cuomo can say that McCall got his party's nomination because it was his turn...?

It sounds to me like this is what happened. Realizing that Andy is an out-of-control power-mad little egomaniac (recognizing their own kind), the bosses of the Democratic party (Bill and Hillary) know that there is no way to talk this boob out of running for Governor this time. So, after letting reality sink in, they arrange a carefully constructed face-saving setup to ease him off stage. In such a way that the minimum of damage is done to Andy, and the racially-polarized NY Democrat Party.

Kind of like defusing a car-bomb. Part of the deal is that Bubba himself will stand on stage for some hand holding while Andy gives his big speach about how we have to think of the good of the Democratic Party first.

Then Andy blows the whole thing by going to some reporter and saying what he really wanted to say up there on stage.

Boy, I'll bet Bill and Hillary are so pleased with him.

Maybe they knew their boy all too well, and saw this all coming from the beginning.

The only thorn in Hitlery's side in NY politics was the Cuomo dynasty. That is no longer a problem. She is now the de facto Queen of New York. I pity the poor FReepers that live there. At least with Cuomo vs Clintoon there was a possibility of exploting that rift and slipping in a few wins.

Hillary!'s plan was to get ANDREW installed as Governor and beholden to her. He was going to be the third gear (after Mark Green in NYC) in her NY Machine. The Cuomos were not exactly well-loved by the rest of the Demoncrats in New York, you know. The only way ANDREW was going to make the big time is with the Clinton's help. Then they would own him. Or so the theory goes.

Of course, it doesn't always work out that way. Hillary! was supposed to own Chuck Schumer for life, because she put him over the top against Alfonse Damato (sp?). But witness the sublimely beautiful knife-in-the-back Schumer delivered to his one-time benefactress with his "early" endorsement of Carl McCall. That one was sheer poetry in motion. Way to go Chuckie!

And now Hillary! is 0-2 in New York since her own election. Looks like the black pantsuit (Ol' Crusty) doesn't have any coat-tails. People in New York will certainly take notice.

It's not that bad really. Hillary is so focussed on her megalomanical plans she really doesn't have much attention to spare for purposes of screwing up the state. Our other senator is just a follower, without an original idea in his head.

The governor is a Republican (I know, I know, a "rino" to most of you out in the red zone, but if you had lived under Mario for 12 years, you'd count your blessings believe me) and all our local politics is Republican and fairly conservative at that (we're talking Upstate NY here).

No pity required. Pity the Freepers of California. They've got problems.

Maybe pity is too strong a word. I just feel plain bad for you New Yorkers and the Californians. We just got us a Dim for governor here in VA and it makes me feel miserable even though the legislature is totally conservative. Good luck Steely!

Cuomo saved himself a lot of embarrassment. McCall will be lucky to pull 40%.
