After I quit my job and burn all of my belongings, I shall weave a set of hemp clothing and wander to South America where the living is good.

Maybe the environmentalists don't travel much, they wouldn't have to go far. Mexico is a third world country where most people have very small homes and few belongings. Yet their cities are by far much more polluted than US cities, their rivers are often very filthy, the amount of litter everywhere is atrocious. Poverty doesn't seem good for the environment, the US looks much cleaner than most countries.

I never heard the term "watermelon" before. Very accurate. When it comes to "carrying capacity" i always thought there was really no such thing. I'm all for preserving nature but in theory you could pave the entire surface of the earth with skyscrapers miles high holding hundreds of billions of people as long as you had the right technology and maybe were able to ship in raw materials from the other planets in the solar system.

A good book is "mining the sky" by John Lewis. Lewis asserts the the most valuable natural resource in the universe is the intelligent and hard working human being. So true. The dense cities we have today would have been impossible a couple hundred years ago. Luckily there are always inventions/improvements in sanitation, transportation, agriculture, mining, and energy production. Civilization is a beautiful thing. I guess the greens would dispute that...

Based on their convoluted beliefs, methinks they are all atheists as well except that each one seems to have a personal believe that they are GOD.
