Dowd: It's Hillary in 2008
NewsMax ^ | 10/3/02 | Limbacher

Hillary Clinton is the great White (House) hope of American womanhood, and in 2008 she'll be swept into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd declares.

In a column "Can Hillary Upgrade?" devoted to the proposition that American males are "biologically" unsuited to hold political office or leadership positions, Miss Dowd propounds a solution: elect a women with an ample supply of the testosterone the males she cites (Torricelli, Andrew Coumo, Tom Daschle, and Ari Fleischer) have been shown to lack.

That woman of course is Mrs. Clinton.

"The arena is full of powerful men in touch with their powerless inner women," the pugnacious Dowd wrote. "And yet, surrounded by famous men puddling under pressure, American girls are still doubtful about the prospects of a woman becoming president." Citing a USA Today poll 40 percent of the women said they would not see one within 10 years and a grim 14 percent "not in my lifetime."

Shocked at her sisters' faintheartedness, Miss Dowd asks "Are those 14 percent unaware of the Clintonian relentlessness of the junior senator from New York?"

Miss Dowd, journalism's archetype of the species of womanhood once known as "common scolds" sets the record straight for her female readers. Hillary, she says, will go for it in 2008, and those dastardly Republicans with their feet firmly planted in the middle of the vast right wing conspiracy will create the circumstances that will allow her to walk downtown to the White House and reclaim all those lovely furnishings the cold hearted government wouldn't allow her to purloin when she left there in January 2001.

That Hillary is gung ho for the race is shown, Dowd says:

Because she's "staying away from Al Gore's kumbayah corner. She's muting any doubts she has about a war on Iraq - "... she is not articulating her angst as loudly as some of her Democratic colleagues...and "knows that any woman who hopes to be elected president cannot have love beads in her jewelry case. As a result she'll back GW if her decides to take out Saddam: "I know a little bit about what it's like on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, making these difficult decisions," Hillary told Tim Russert.

She has gone all out raising money for fellow Democrats, using her House as NewsMax.com reported Monday as a fund raising gimmick. As Dowd says, she has "put Democrats in her debt by handing out fistfuls of cash from her PAC." Mrs. Clinton and her sometime husband have it all planned out. According to their scenario either John Kerry or John Edwards or Al Gore, "if he can find any Democratic donors" will be the sacrificial lamb in 2004" to a popular wartime president Bush.

In the meantime, Mrs. Clinton will hunker down and play the role of a dedicated senator "for a few more years." She will shed the liberal label, "veering away from the left on issues like welfare and bankruptcy."

Dowd reveals the script written by her supporters:

"In the flush of patriotism and empire-building, the Republicans take over the Senate and keep the House this fall. Then President Bush wins his war on Iraq." This of course makes Dubya "and his inner circle.. more arrogant."

White House political experts Carl Rove, "pushes through the most reactionary agenda since the Congress of Vienna, packing the courts with young right-wingers opposed to abortion and all regulations. Congress, too, gets carried away with an ultra-conservative agenda." "The maniacally centrist American public craves another correction. Right, left, right, left. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton. Yup. In our lifetime."

Note: We left out the one Republican Dowd cited as lacking the requisite maleness she seems to crave: Gov. Jeb Bush who she faults for crying every time his daughter gets arrested, Pray tell, Miss Dowd, what do you expect him to do, shout hosannas?

But then, you have to understand that Dowd wouldn't begin to understand how anybody would react when a beloved but drug addicted daughter gets busted. Dowd doesn't have a daughter and since she's getting long in the tooth it's doubtful she ever will.

Somebody should tell the Dowd woman that it has been truly said that "only strong men cry." The weak ones are afraid to.

Have you seen that Picture in Post #19? That's Evil smiling at you, easily drawing in half the Population that voted for Gore.(That's not even the clear picture which is just "Too Perfect"). You can't live a life like her and have a picture 'made up' like that unless you're inherently evil or know Professionals (from every facet of life) and she is and does both.

Please remember this fact:
The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism,
but under the name of Liberalism
they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist Program
until one day America will be a Socialist Nation
without ever knowing how it happened----
That Comment is courtesy of Norman Thomas,
SIX-time Socialist Party presidential candidate
and one of the Founders of the ACLU.

He's Brazen enough to tell us what they're creating, so ask yourself, why would any rational human want that Beast, signing Executive Orders (at the very least) in the White House?

Of course I am busy analyzing them. I can do that whilst I dispute your opinion, which I dare say is the one in the minority, that Hillary is a great speaker. THAT is not what earned her the votes in my estimation and it is something I've never even heard touted about her by her supporters.

I'm telling you that many people, and the majority of people who vote like the Clintons', and particularly Hillary's , defiant countercultural rebellious bullshit. That includes a majority of women, a pile of people in the 50% of divorced marriages who have turned their back on American culture, the whipped castrated Phill Donahue type men, the single's culture, those connected to 33+ percent of out of wedlock children, the aging hippies, the minorities, the neurotics and psychotics, the radical left are a very highly dedicated Clinton coalition. The Republicans haven't the capability to refute the Clintons because they are just plain God damned dumb. That's why Bush lost the popular vote against the imbecile Owlgore. I can see from this thread that the Republicans are still in the same mode.

And you hopefully will be five years dead then.

She will absolutely run, but it will only take a few scandals to be revived and laid out in all their ugly
and self-incriminating detail to undermine the provisional
novelty of this "First Woman President". She will not be
so protected now. Dowd's conceit is all based on what she
thinks will make the Bush Admin. fall out of favor with the
American Public and tumble into ineffectuality. She posits that the possible success of War on Terror/Iraq will create an irreversible hubris, and result in their trying to turn the country to "The Right" by taking steps to outlaw abortion, and ram through other hot-button issues. This is a Liberal Wet-Dream, and it's really the story of the entire
8 years of the Clinton Administration..

Though I am hopeful of this, I think it is simply impossible. Will the media bring up Vince Foster, Craig Livingston, the Travel Office, FBI files? Of course not. And the Republicans think they are "above" making "character attacks." They are afraid, and never do anything.

Thanks for your comments. With Ms. Rice, you are right in that we know very little. Good point there.

Many Republicans (contrary to the leftist stereotype) are delighted when blacks are attracted to their (our) philosophy because so few are, and we know that it is better for them as a people. People may be very premature in their attraction to Ms. Rice.

Yes, Hilliary will be very hard to beat. But it isn't impossible. We have the person,(Condi Rice), or several others I can think of, right off the top of my head. I agree, probably not Jeb - too bad, but the "dynasty" thing will be hard to overcome. We have the issues. What we don't have is the Soprano mentality, the lying, cheating, break-the-legs modus operandi.

I haven't recently asked anyone I know about voting for Hil, but a while back some people I know, that I considered intellegent, said they would vote for Hil. I was stunned.

Regarding your suggested Hillary Clinton / Harold Ford ticket in 2004:  Rep. Harold Ford was born on May 11, 1970. (source)

That means that, assuming a win, Ford would be inaugurated as Vice President in January 2005, at age 34, about 4 months before he reaches the age of 35. This means that he could NOT be elected Vice President in the 2004 election. The Constitution states (Article II, Section 1) that "No Person ... shall be eligible to the Office of President... who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years..."

And the 12th Amendment states "... [N]o person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

The media can leave alone all the Hillary-related scandals
you mentioned---and the Establishment RNC can pretend once again to be "above it all" and not be willing to offend by
beating the dead horse of "old" scandals. I was in fact thinking of just two scandals, which didn't appear on your list: The pardon given by her husband to some Hasidic con-men in New Square, N. Y. in exchange for a virtual 100% Hillary vote (from a community that usually voted Repub.),
and her investment bonanza involving "Red" Bone from years back where she reaped big rewards from cattle futures with a minimal investment. In light of both the current Torricelli corruption, and the CEO greedheads looting their own companies and doing that hot new dance "The Perp Walk", Hillary's timing couldn't be worse.

Did you ever see the animated movie of "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" - if you have, then you'd be able to immediately recognize the almost identical personality traits between the White Witch and Hillary Clinton...but, in the end the Lion gets rid of the Witch@!

If I make it to 2008 I will vote for the other candidate, and so will my dog, my guinea pig, and many who have predeceased me, but whose political expectations I can express in their memories by voting early, often and creatively. By 2008 I should even be able to vote frequently by some sort of cybertransmissions, so I can drive around and vote in many precincts without even having to get out of my truck. The New Jersey Supreme Court will pass laws to allow me this latitude. After all, if the right to vote is important, the right to vote frequently and creatively is worth a lot, too.

--------------------------

When Alan Keyes was running for president after being ambassador to the U. N. and having had a clear written and spoken record of positions on everything, people here howed bloody murder that his being inexperienced in public office disqualified him from consideration. Now we have this woman about whom we know very little and who has also not held public office being hysterically presented as the answer to everything. This is absolutely crazy.
