Another DC-area sniper-style shooting
Wife (FReeper nina0113) | October 4, 2002 | Steve0113

Posted on 10/04/2002 12:02:50 PM PDT by Steve0113

Another broad-daylight shooting just occurred, this time in Fredericksburg, VA, just off I-95. It's not even on the news yet.

About an hour's drive south of where the Montgomery County shootings happened, a woman was shot in the parking lot of a Michaels fabric store. My wife was in the store at the time. The victim had left the store and carried her purchases to her minivan. She unlocked the minivan and was loading her stuff into it when she was shot. No sign of the shooter.

No one else was injured.

The woman was taken away in an ambulance, condition unknown. Her license plate (which I'm not going to post) indicated that she had several children.

I live in Springfield, and just noticed your post. It is strange indeed that the other killings also took place at a Michael's.{Michaels arts and crafts store in Northgate Shopping Center.} I have no idea if they are connected.

Somehow those 6 creeps they arrested today--well, two are still at large---came to mind. They were working on their shooting proficiency quite diligently in Oregon, allegedly with the intent to make war against America.

It would be terrible if these shootings were the equivalent of suicide bombings without the suicide. But no indication yet that this is anything but a seriously deranged and angry murderer.

Can you fire a high-power .223 from a handgun?

Yes. You can get a pistol kit that will work on an AR-15 type lower and you can also get a Thompson Center Contender (single shot pistol) in .223 (or practically any other caliber for that matter).

I was driving from Walter Reed in Silver Spring, MD toward Fredericksburg, VA yesterday when the big manhunt was on. There were cops in patrol cars with engines running at many of the entrances to I-66. There were ready to chase any vehicle that looked suspicious.

FYI, that map is not clear. What is labelled Rt. 17 is actually I-95. It's also the Rt. 17 bypass.

Naw, I think it's probably the Torch who has snapped.

Darn. I should have used him instead.

If the shootings were done to make the image of an arrow looks like the arrow is pointing south.

Also Fredericksburg is just down the road from Quantico. Now that is ballsy.

Any bets that 60 minutes does a "special" on this in the next weke or so? Also, what will the Sunday Morning talk shows have to say about it? It will be a toss up between calling for an instant gun ban and praise for the traitors from congress who went to Iraq.

I just returned from Maryland this morning. I couch potatod at my daughters all day while she was at school. When the shooting story broke, I was just getting ready to head in that direction. We ended up going to a different mall, and even in PG County, Calvert County, and Anne Arundel County, we saw troopers and deputies all over. On rte 4 a chopper hovered for about an hour while troopers and the deputies search the woods near Waysons Corner where I stayed. On my way to the airport this morning they were still on the Patuxent River bridge on rte.4 at Waysons Corner. I hope they catch these guys soon.

"I'm beginning to think that security cameras on top of privately owned stores might not be a bad idea."

Don't even give our big government police state thugs ideas. I'd rather a private and well-armed society, and not a Britain-style police state.

Isn't that an arts and crafts store??

I realize this is all very serious, (I'm even spelling it right) but if the first shootings were near a Michael's craft store, has anyone accounted for Martha Stewarts whereabouts lately?

The 'cop killer' hysteria is based on ammunition developed BY THE GOVERNMENT that is basically a sharpened steel or tungsten tube that is cast inside a hollow point bullet.
