54 Socialists are in the U. S. Congress By Chuck Morse Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 13:20:25 -0700

This Republic honors the right to free speech, expression, and association. These rights, the hallmark of a free society, are protected through time honored Constitutional guarantees. An American citizen is free, for example, to be a Socialist, a Communist, a Nazi, a member of the KKK, or a member of any group, as long as he obeys the law and doesn't act in a manner that would threaten the freedom, safety, and liberty of his fellow citizens. This principle is the foundation as well as the price of freedom.

Congressmen, however, swear on a Bible to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. They are elected and compensated to fulfill that sacred oath both in letter and in spirit. Affiliation, therefore, with an organization that advocates a political system that blatantly contradicts the Constitution, while not illegal per se, has the effect of eroding faith and trust in our government, society, and the rule of law. A Congressmen who affiliates with an International Socialist organization is really no different, in this regard, than a Congressmen who, theoretically, would join an organization that advocates a Monarchy, or a government based on laws of racial supremacy. The Democratic Socialists of America, the organization in question, advocates an authoritarian political system that is antithetical to American Constitutional principals. This poses a major contradiction for an elected Congressmen who also happens to be a member of such an organization.

There are, presently, 54 Congressmen who are members of the Democratic Socialists of America which bills itself as the largest organization in America to be affiliated with the Socialist International. These Congressmen represent the extreme political left of the Democratic Party. This is, lets be clear, not comparable to participation in the old left, Stalinist apparatus which, during the Franklin D. Roosevelt Administration in the 1930's and 1940's, set up secret Communist cells who were spying for the Kremlin. A Congressman who is a member of an organization like the DSA has, again, done nothing illegal per se. However, he nonetheless signs onto, witting or otherwise, a political philosophy and methodology that is un-Constitutional and, therefore, un-American. While the purpose of this article is not to impugn the patriotism of these Congressmen, and while they, no doubt, sincerely believe that their international authoritarian faith is pro-American, they, nonetheless, should be identified and their record and actions studied and scrutinized. Following is a list of Congressmen who are presently members of the Democratic Socialists of America:

The DSA website contains the same old Marxist jargon of yesteryear. It states as a basic principal, "We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane international social order". This is nothing more than a transparent euphemism for world government. This is re-enforced by links, on their website, to such world government advocacy groups as the World Federalist Association. They call for "democratic planning" and "market mechanisms" to achieve an "equitable distribution of resources". This so-called "democratic" planning, with the elastic euphemism "democratic" laced thorough their literature, and the "distribution of resources" is, of course, a euphemistic way of advocating total, authoritarian government with absolute control over property and the "mode of production". The DSA favors the gradual, Fabian approach to world socialism as opposed to their Leninist-Communist counterparts who call for outright violent Revolution as a means of conquering the world. The Fabian Socialists of the DSA plan on world conquest through legislation. This is why an extremely jaundiced eye should apply to DSA Congressmen. Last I checked, none of these powers are granted by our Constitution, the same Constitution that these Congressmen pledged to uphold with their sacred honor.

In fact, the DSA stands for nothing more than re-hashed Communism. This same Communism was responsible, according to the recently published "Black Book of Communism", for the murder of over 100 million souls worldwide. In the name of "the people" these evil totalitarian ideas, when enthroned, have caused more poverty, misery, hate, and death than any known in the history of man. We should watch the actions of these 54 Socialist Congressmen if we value freedom. We should examine each one of them and publish their voting record and rhetoric for all to see.

RCB COMMENTS: Are there any doubts of why Castro gets to negotiate with visiting politicians? Have you seen any of these names in the recent news visiting Castro? For one, socialist despicable Maxine is a regular Havana visitor. Chumming with a murderer! Doing business with the enemy is un-American, and enjoying the benefits afforded by their positions paid by the U.S. taxpayer is ludicrous. These hypocrites have better health and retirement plans than most of us, and instead of being grateful, they want Socialism or the worse for the people they represent. That says it all. NO HONOR OR INTEGRITY! WE MUST GET RID OF THEM ON THE NEXT ELECTION !!! WAKE UP AMERICA; IT IS LATER THAN YOU THINK.

Do a search on the Democratic Socialists of America within FR - I did a post a week or two ago on them with lots of replies, and so did a few others. It's an outrage that the RNC isn't jumping all over this. The last count we had was 58 members. Additionally, the DLC itself is a member organization within the Socialists International - or the International Communist Party. Essentially, the Democratic Leadership Committee is a Communist organization.

Socialists. Wow! Someone's charitable. A communist by any other name would still be a red. But islamism's got us all confused a little now. Except those who subscribe to its primitivism. Or its foster parent who hides in its robes and, whatever it wraps about it's head.

add Bill Coyne - PA - Retiring.

THANK GOD!!!!! That moron has been my congressman for most of the past 12 years - yelled at me back in 1992 when he was at a anti-welfare reform rally at the University of Pittsburgh that was sponsored by some leftists faculty and grad students. And he is dumber than a post to boot - and in 20+ years in congress has sponsored only 1 bill: designating an aviary in pittsburgh as the "National Aviary." Meanwhile, tens of thousands of people and jobs have left his district. He has been voted something like the "least influential" member of Congress, and for good reason.

And yet people here still kiss his ass and say he is a good Catholic that goes to mass everyday. Then he votes to have the government pay for abortions, recognize gay marriage, and to surrender to Iraq.

"Democratic Socialists of America"

. . .ah yes, and we now have the 'Democratic' Party. . .

This is the latest transition for Democrats who do not like the their name ending in 'rats' apparently; while at the same time, using the same Democrat MO as these Socialists, hiding precisely what they are, under a name that conveys their opposite. .

It's is working and even Rush refers to these people as 'Democratic Senator' etc., and to the 'Democratic' Party. . .

. . .feel an angry cringe everytime I hear this.

The DemocRAT Party and DemocRATS forever; should they last that long.

Whoops, yeah, forgot about Coyne. I assume you're going to be in Doyle's new district ? At least he's got a better voting record, but he's also an ex-GOP apostate who helped screw us on redistricting in '90. :-|

These people are members of the Progressive Cacaus. about four years ago the DSA listed them as members, with a link to the Progressive Cacaus membership list. A link to the DSA web site was posted here on Freerepublic, Rush, and many other talk show hosts talked about it. The Socialists started getting confronted by constituents, it didn't take long until any mention of the Progressive Cacaus was removed from the DSA web site. Their canned answer was that they didn't, and never had belonged to any organization with the word Socialist in it's name.

"I do not argue that the are socialists but I have never seen that they are members of the DSA. It keeps getting posted on FR but no one ever gives any direct reference."

A DSA representative named Llewellyn was interviewed on C-SPAN a few years back and confirmed that only two members of Congress are card carrying members - they are Major Owens (NY) and Danny Davis (IL). He also confirmed that John Sweeney, the AFL-CIO commie rat leader is also a member. The latter fact was also reported in the Washington Times years ago. I have heard a few times that Sweeney is also affiliated with both the French and Italian communist parties but I can't find a hard reference to prove that - wish I could.

That C-SPAN interview was discussed in a few threads back then and you might find it in the FR archives, and someone probably has a tape of it. C-SPAN certainly has it, but it's a few years old and probably would require some work to get it from them if you really wanted it.

Bernie Sanders is no longer the chair of that "progressive caucus", a POS named Dennis Kucinich is. I am particularly PO'ed because thanks to REPUBLICAN redistricting in Ohio which they blew big time I am going to get stuck with this RAT, along with many fine Republican communities who will have absolutely no voice in DC anymore.

While they may not be card carrying members of DSA (at least Owens and Davis are honest enough to admit it) it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the "progressive caucus" is the de facto legislative arm of the DSA. There is all kinds of proposed legislation by these guys that has DSA's fingerprints all over it.

The links have all been deleted from the DSA site. They used to have the list of all the progressive members, as well as an explanation of why they work as a subsidiary within the DNC, rather than a separate third party. They also had live links to all the unions and charities that were associated with the DSA, including Catholic Charities. They changed it, though, about a year and half ago, because some of the congressmen were taking alot of heat from their constituents.

It's still there, but out of date and buried in their archives section. Try DSA ARCHIVES and look under the heading 'democRATS'

Sorry, I misread DSA for DLC. The DLC probably is not related to Socialist International, but nobody here believes that they are any kind of "mainstream" or "different" kind of democRAT as the liberal media paints them to be.

The media always refers them as being 'centrist'. Bullcrap.

Shouldn't Hitlary Clinton's name be on this list. I recall two quotes recently posted here on FR.

The 1st was from the Nazi policy something about putting the Nazi party over the people. ( If any one knows what I'm talking about please post)

The 2nd was from Hiltlary ( I know this one) "We must stop thinking of the individual and start think what is best for socity"

No - the North Hills of Pittsburgh are represented by a true conservative, Congresswoman Melissa Hart. She is a rising star in national politics, just as she was in PA politics for the past 12 years.

Doyle is pretty dumb too, but at least he is pro-life and pro-gun. Kisses all the union ass that he can and pretty leftist on economic issues, but all in all - he is 10,000 percent better than Bill Coyne. And the City of Pittsburgh could do a lot worse than having Doyle reprsent them too. As far as an urban Dem goes, we could do a lot worse than Doyle too.

Ah, then you are most fortunate. My district hasn't had a Conservative since 1962 (and a Dem at that), and it hasn't gone Republican since U.S. Grant's 2nd term in 1872.

Yeah, although it will be interesting to see if his vote starts sliding in a more Coynesian direction. Many in his redrawn district are looking to challenge him from the left in a future primary, and he'll probably want to keep an eye out on that flank.
