***I'm Sorry, But Byrd Needs To Go Home***
Stardate: 0210.9

Posted on 10/09/2002 11:55:10 AM PDT by The Wizard

I am extremely sorry to post this, but this man is out of line and past his time......

You know, there's no fool like an old fool, and because there is no limit to the age of an elected official, (unfortunately) as their abilities fade with age they are still allowed to disrupt the country's business because of their percieved notions, both real and imagined, with no recourse for those other senatrors, who are still in their prime both physically and MENTALLY.....

Senator Byrd needs to retire and go home, no offense, but his ravings about the current resolution, WHICH EVERYONE HAS ALREADY AGREED TO WILL PASS, he still raves on...spending the country's funds on a wasted effort that will only end in failure.....

But he can cost the country money and time to accomplish nothing

THE SENATE NEEDS RULES

I say let Sen. KKK talk till he's blue in the face. After all, it is a democracy and the folks of WVA deserve to hear their Senator in full throat as he leads the democrat party down the Bonior/McDermitt dead end.

Unfortunately, if we want term limits for U.S. senators and congresscritters, we'll have to do it by constitutional amendment. The odds of that happening are slim to none.

The Republicans propped up - even literally carried to the floor for votes - Strom Thurmond for years. At 99 years old, he finally is not going to run any more.

We don't let pilots fly after a certain age, why should we allow senile old men and/or women make life and death decisions in Congress? There should be an age limit as well as term limits.

Billie done bought the farm recently. Too bad Bobby didn't retire when Cecil Underwood was Governor... The state hasn't had Republican Senators since Chapman Revercomb and John Hoblitzell were both defeated in the 1958 Dem landslide.

Watching this guy rave on is funny, no disrespect, but this is too serious to be left to these old dudes......

It's great to get counsel from those with experience, but this is a raving waste of time.....everyone on earth knows this resolution is going to pass and this is just a criminal waste of time and staff and money

I strongly disagree with "age limits." I trust the good judgment of Strom Thurmond on the brink of his 100th birthday more than I do the judgment of ambulance-chasing shysters like John Edwards in the state just to the north at the age of 49. I think ole Strom should've run again...

WHY is he doing this? It doesn't make sense since passage is inevitable. It just draws more attention to the one issue they claimed they wanted buried. But the past few weeks have seen orchestrated anti-war efforts, from Hollywood to huge protests to the most liberal in Congress. Divisive tactics for sure but this delay doesn't benefit them.

He's is completely out of touch, and if the democrats don't get him under control, Byrd will become the drooling image of the democrat party....

he is actually saying that people don't know what's going on......

this is sad......

The Dems in the Senate are really shooting each other in the feet. Not only are they keep the Wacky From I-Racky on the front page and all their "chrome-and-formica--dinette issues" OFF, but they are ALSO impounding all the members from going home to campaign. By the time they're finally done being the bloviating gas-bags that they are, there will only be a couple of weeks left before the "Lection."

Remember - if the Senate version of the resolution is DIFFERENT from the House's, then the House will have to approve a conference committee report, which means that House members will have to be in DC for a vote and not back home campaigning.

In reality, though, this is all just grandstanding for the purpose of enhancing their stature within the left wing of the party. A chance to bash Bush without real meaningful consequence and to curry favor within the cocktail A-list party ranks of the media. This has NOTHING to do with the debate and EVERYTHING to do with SHOW.
