CORRALITOS, Calif.(AP) - A man with the environmental activist group Earth First! has died after a 50-foot fall from a redwood tree in which he'd lived for several weeks.

Rescue personnel were called to the scene of a logging operation in the Ramsey Gulch area about 20-miles south of San Jose on Tuesday night after loggers heard moans coming from the area where a group of tree-sitters has been camped since August, the group said. It was unclear how long the injured man had been on the ground.

They need to repeal the Law of Gravity.

Yes, apparently the Liberals haven't found a way around that law yet. It has to go.

ALERT! Ramsey Gulch Under Attack Again!

Redwood Empire is back to plunder more of the Ramsey Gulch forest, with the help of the CA Department of Forestry, which approved the plan over the objections of Santa Cruz County, the Watsonville Water Board, and the Department of Fish & Game.

Ready to greet the chainsaws and bulldozers with compassion and steadfast commitment to the forest, Earth First! activists are once again occupying the upper canopy of redwoods and douglas firs on the steep, erosive slopes of Ramsey Gulch. To sustain the Ramsey II tree-sit village, we need your help – whether by climbing up to sit in a platform, hiking in supplies to tree-sitting ewoks, or by donating money, food, climbing gear, or other crucial forest defense components. Every little bit helps – together we can topple Redwood Empire before it topples the last of the towering trees of our beloved Santa Cruz mountains.

Santa Cruz Earth First! Action Update - Ramsey 2 Treesit Starts Against Redwood Empire

A tree-village has been established in the Ramsey 2 Timber Harvest Plan (THP) in southeastern Santa Cruz county in California. Located at the southern end of the contiguous Coastal Redwood belt that stretches south from Oregon, the treesits, called Critter and Free, were setup on Friday, the 16th of August by activists with Santa Cruz Earth First! (SCEF!) This area has been the scene of some of the worst logging in recent Santa Cruz county history and two years ago was the site of the first treesit in the county...

He's fertilizer now.

Maybe the tree killed him for food? That would mean the guy was really far down the food chain...

OSHA needs to be called in. Those tree sitters are working in unsafe conditions. The loss ratio is very high.

Of course, what does one expect from a splinter group.

How about a tree-sitting tax? The proceeds will be aimed at tree-sitting cessation programs.

Indeed. Also, the state needs to look into this unregulated enterprise. We need standards for tree-sitters. And they should be required by the state to hold and official tree-sitting liscence, which would be obtained only after they complete a tree-sitting safety course.

Oh, have a little heart, folks! The Left needs its martyrs too! His name ('unidentified') will be added to the Progressive Movement's proud shrine of Saints along with that crippled, assasinated Marilyn Monroe's lover, Martin Luther Whatsisface, Huey Newton, Rodney King and Saint Hillary, the last two still with us, unfortunately!

bring in supplies? No way dude.... to truly be part of the tree, you have to live like the tree. Eat dirt and water.

Oh wait, he DID eat dirt didn't he. What poetry, he is now the tree......

If they are receiving material compensation, then I think OSHA should get involved to. Is the tree ergonomically sound? Is diversity fostered? Have they provided diversity training? Lot of work needs to be done, obviously.
