abortion rates are dropping dramatically in the middle and the upper classes. i believe this is due to the fact that the word is getting out. the facts are on our side.

among the poor and minorities, however, abortion rates are escalating rapidly. i believe that this is due to the fact that our message is not reaching this demographic.

if we have a pro life president - especially if her name is dr. rice - there will be fewer abortions when she leaves office than when she arrives. and perhaps she can reach those who are poor or racial minority in a way which a GWB can't.

it is important to have a pro life President at many levels....but the bully pulpit is one of the most important. having said that, we understand that there is only so much a president can do. i'm not sure who the militant pro lifers are who can never be satisfied, but in my experience they wouldn't be the ones actually involved in the cause of reducing abortion. because those that are in the trenches recognize that this is not primarily a presidential issue, but one of the heart, one heart at a time.

having said that, we must pray that dr. rice sees the issue clearly. a victory for a pro life rice would be a great benefit for the cause, indeed.

Perhaps she has never considered the issue. As a Christian she should, but I'll reserve judgement unless/until it becomes obvious she is running for office. As a Christian and as an African-America she should be strongly pro-life. The number of abortions in the black community typically far outpaces that of their population percentage. It is a terrible thing.

My vote will be decided here more than any other single place, I am afraid.

Just to clarify, I believe that she has never had to seriously confront this issue, so focused has her concentration been on national security matters.

I do know that she is in favor of parental notification. I also suspect that she is against partial birth abortion. I have a suspicion that she looks at it from a "federalist" perspective, e.g., it's the state's responsibility.

The fact that she is such a devoted and prayerful Christian speaks well for a change of heart in this regard.
