I have been wholeheartedly praying that if Bush does not retain Cheney (health) in 2004, that he name Condi Rice as his running mate.
I would love to see the Democrats explain to their "Base" how the republicans were able to come up with an African-American Female when all the Dems ever give is lip service.
OF course we do have the benefit of Condi being the one black woman in government that is qualified and capable of holding the office.

I go to church with one of her former sorority sisters. My friend says that Ms. Rice is, indeed, an amazing person. And while this is certainly a puff-piece, it does place the lady in the mill for a VP slot next election.
Indeed, when Hillary announces next fall, Bush almost has to name her.

Nice story--thanks for posting it, Granite.

I'll reserve my praise until I find out more about her. In particular, is she pro-abortion? I have heard that she is. Hopefully we'll find out before we fire up the "Condi in '08" bandwagon.

Link to the Oprah magazine interview (click the pic).

In particular, is she pro-abortion? She describes herself as "reluctantly pro-choice." This is a significant mark against her, in my book, but I suspect the reason she takes such a stand is that she has never had to address the issue head-on. I think her Christian faith would lead her to the proper conclusion if she ever had to deal with the issue. I think I'd withold judgement on the issue until she gave a better acconting of the grounds for her reluctance, and elaborated on what she considers to be the limits of abortion rights.
And even supposing that she never recanted on abortion, one would still have to conclude that Condi Rice would be better than any Democrat -- who, after all, would have to have impeccable pro-abort credentials.

this same discussion took place the last time this article was posted, last week i believe.
the suggestion was made, and i believe wisely, that we pray for her conversion on the issue. if my memory serves me correctly, even ronald reagan was not always pro-life.
if God touches her hear so that she sees the issue clearly, then i believe Dr. Rice will have almost unanimous support in '08 (assuming she is promoted to VP, defense or state in 2nd GWB term, which is i believe inevitable).
so in the meantime, let's pray.

WOW!
I KNEW
I LOVED
THAT GAL!
. . .
NOW I SEE
WHY
SHE LOVES
OUR SAME
LORD
AND SHOWS FORTH
HIS BLESSINGS ON HER LIFE
VERY WELL!
Thank You, Lord for raising her up in this such a great hour of need of such a person. Thank you for guiding her and keeping her close. May she ever give your best input to The President, the administration and the world at large.
Draw her ever closer to You and make yourself ever more real to her. Give her whatever angelic visitations and other supernatural input fitting to each situation. Let her not be confused or overstressed but always exhibit and feel that Peace that passes understanding and that Wisdom and knowledge only You can Give. In your Precious Name and by Your Spirit and Blood, Oh, Lord, Jesus, The Christ. Amen.

Yeah but what about Hillary?Cor 6:14 "...For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"
To: r9etb
I look at it this way. No matter what she says from now on she will NEVER get the support of the militant pro-lifers out there, so it isn't worth even worrying about. Remember, these are the same people who say Bush isn't "pro-life enough" desipte probably doing more for the movement than Reagan.
I pray that one day these people see how much damage they actually do to the pro-life movement.

A quality people (e.g. Condi Rice) for high office BUMP!
To: GraniteStateConservative
It's interesting this article should appear now. I was just a rather select meeting with Senator Inhofe (about 60 present) and he extolled Rice.

Pro-lifers such as myself have got to recognize that there are a plethora of evils facing our nation. We need good and capable Pro-American people in office and must not allow the "Death to America" democrat party to destroy this country. Yes, the tought of the murdered children breaks my heart, but there is a great deal at stake overall.

I pray that one day these people see how much damage they actually do to the pro-life movement. While I do agree with the ultimate goal, their rejection of incrementalism is bound to fail. Sure it's a moral issue. But it's also a political issue, and politics is correctly called "the art of the possible." I tink it should be clear to everybody that the all or nothing approach does not work. Incrementalism will -- and probably a lot faster than people think.
