The popular 1970s police drama "Hawaii Five-O" showcased the nation's 50th state and attracted millions of tourists to its shores. This year, political reporters have been trooping to Hawaii to see if the entrenched 40-year-old Democratic Party machine--dubbed "Hawaii Four-O"--will finally lose a race for governor and open up the Aloha State's politics.

Not to be morbid, but this is an important election.
Sen. Inouye, the 78-year-old patriarch of the state's Democratic Party
An aged Democrat Senator, one who is not likely to retire but rather be carried out of the Senate after expiring.
Sure would be nice to have a Republican Governor in place, in case a Coverdell situation occurs.

A friend of mine is running for the special election in January 2003 for Mink's seat which will be held if Mink "wins". He has a decent chance of winning the primary, but given the fact that Hawaii is perhaps the most Democrat state in the country his chances for winning the seat outright are slim indeed particularly so since the Democrap nominee is likely to be a former state governor.

but given the fact that Hawaii is perhaps the most Democrat state in the country Hawaii is such a Democratic machine that the Harvard elites would be embarrased to know that Taxachusetts is almost a picture of moderation in comparison. hahahahahahaha
