Oscar has Passed Away
today | me

Posted on 10/20/2002 11:30:07 AM PDT by Moleman

I apologize for the vanity- I am heartbroken today as my best friend and faithful companion has died. My tuff little Yorkie, Oscar, was killed last night by a coyote. The damn coyote snatched him right off of his rope in the backyard. Seems like the environmental nazi's want to keep all these killers alive so they can kill more domestic pets. He was my best friend in the whole world- his nickname was "Moleman"

As someone who loves their dogs to distraction, I send my heartfelt sympathies. We live in a remote area with LOTS of wildlife and our neighbors were losing pets to cougars, coyotes, etc., right and left. But then we got an Anatolian Shepherd and since he's been on patrol in our large fenced yard, not only have we not seen any of these predators, neighbors for about a half a mile haven't either. Not only is he a great deterrent for predators, he is the biggest baby in the world and I'm afraid we love him way too much.

I too, know how it feels and you have my sympathy. I lost my best friend over a year ago and although time does heal, I haven't forgotten how bad it hurts.

A couple of months ago, someone poisoned my two dogs. They both died.

I empathize, trust me.

Dear Moleman,

I know well the heartbreak of losing a beloved dog.
People who do not have a dog they love can not understand how you feel. They think you are crazy or foolish. NOT!
There is absolutely nothing on this earth that can love you like a dog will. My heart goes out to you.

When our dog died 10 years ago, my husband insisted on going to the breeder the next day to get a new puppy.

I thought he was nuts and a bit coldhearted. I was very wrong.
As miserable as we all were, buying that puppy was the best thing he could have done! She distracted us from the grief and made us laugh when we were sad.

We had her for years until she passed and I now have three of her babies (grown). They are pampered, spoiled, adored and cherished.

Maybe it was God's way of giving a puppy a new home. Best way I have found to say goodbye when losing a doggie is to make a new friend (or two). We got an dogpound pit bull when our yellow lab died and he never gave us much time to be sad. Best wishes. parsy, who is owned by a pit bull.

Did you come onto this thread just piss all over it? If you cannot understand how some of us feel about our furry family members, why did you click on the thread?

I have a large dog of nearly 8 years. It's a breed that generally doesn't make it much past ten years of age. My folks have a Boxer who will be 10 or 11 (I can't remember) this November. Boxers generally only live 7-10 years. My parents are dreading the day when he goes. He is their 3rd child, as far as they are concerned. Mess with Rocky, you mess with my dad.

What the hell is your problem? It's obvious you have one or maybe even more. I suggest you get that looked at.

So sorry to read of your loss. I know, if you could, you would have snatched little Oscar from those jaws of death.

But, you still can, somewhat. Get down to your local animal pound tomorrow, or as soon as you can and help rescue another little innocent from an equally cruel fate.

I'm sure that among all those little pairs of eyes, looking up at you, you'll find a new soulmate that needs your help and love. Try it, you won't come home alone.....

Yes, this is a vanity post, isn't it? It's just a damn dog.

People who are cruel to animals or are indifferent to cruelty to animals are major risks as child molesters and serial killers.

Maybe you should not be teaching, or anywhere around decent people for that matter. I wonder how hard it will be to track your ass down and then your departmental supervisors given what you have so graciously provided in your profile.

I've had three dogs in my life and each of them lived to be 14-15 years yo. My heart broke each and every time one of them left, so you have my sincere sympathy Moleman.

What kind of lower than the bottom of a septic tank scum would poison a dog? Sometimes the human race is beyond my understanding.

Sorry to hear that. Start shooting those coyote's, and put a few of their heads on poles around the property.

If you can't deal with that, buy yourself a good high compression pellet gun, and let them know they aint welcome. Works every time.
