The message contained significant text and was found in woods behind the restaurant, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Monday, quoting unidentified law enforcement sources. The report also said police have found more than one tarot card during the investigation.

I'm getting the impression from the newscaster I just heard that the note was threatening and that if they (the cops) didn't cooperate, the killings would continue.

I'd guess that is why the schools down there are being closed today. It's just a "take no chancees" situation for the counties.

saw the man shoot his wife from 30-40 yards away.

That would explain why the police spent so much time searching the HD parking lot, and left the school parking opposite Rt 50 alone for 36 hours (in fact the newsies used it to park their trucks, and the police seemed entirely disinterested in declaring it a crime scene, at least for the first day-and-a-half).

But on the other hand it doesn't explain why the police later declared parts of the school grounds as a crime scene, and began searching the parking lot on Wednesday morning.

Either the shooter was near (or in) the HD parking lot, or the shooter was near (or in) the school parking lot. Not both.

So I'd guess there is some uncertainty in the account you've posted. Otherwise they'd never have spent time at the school grounds, even if it was 36 hours later.

Just re-read last night's thread - said Brian Wilson's e-mail is brian.wilson@foxnews.com. Must have the period between brian and wilson or it will get bounced.

Right now, the sniper is holding all the cards (no pun intended). As long as he is calling the shots, he is in complete control. And I'm willing to bet he get's off on that control. If you look at the pattern of shootings, they relate directly to the amount of information the media gets a hold of. The sniper is killing based on what the media is saying. He even asked the police not to contact the media on one of the cards.

Undoubtedly, there is more going on than we know.

I think they spent so much time at the Home Depot scene due to the false testimony of the now criminally charged witness. Maybe when they discovered his lies, they moved the scene across the street to the school, a site which provided better cover for the killer.

"If there wasn't a threat, they could have the schools open and excuse the children of worried parents. "

In Ashland, Randolph-Macon College also announced it would cancel classes on Monday. The school, with 1,100 students, is about a mile from the latest shooting. -AP News

Guess the school school closings are not confined to just K-12

Very true. I don't even WANT to imagine the chaos that would occur here in VA Beach if it came down this way and they decided to close schools, what with all the military folk here (roughly 94,000 active duty and reservists in the Hampton Roads area according to US Census Bureau figures).

The story has "shifted" this morning. They are now saying "site of the shooting" which can mean where the shooter stood, or where the victim stood, or anywhere in the vicinity of the shooting.

Time will tell and we'll get more information.

"It seems the media is willing to report just about anything to fill air-time and/or newsprint."

Ok. That did it...

(In my best OReilly voice)
Why doesn't the media just SHUT UP?

It's one thing to assist in the investigation by getting necessary info out to the public. It's another thing to dig and maneuvre, spew out unverified "facts" only to retract, sit around w/ "experts" and speculate the days away.
And to try to scoop other channels, etc. by broadcasting info that HELPS this monster is absolutely the worst thing of all!

We may need to know to look out for a white box truck (laughable as that is).
We may need to know he's basic MO, etc. to alert the people in the area.
These are things the sniper already knows and can't gain advantage from.
BUT to broadcast that they're bringing in spyplanes, what those planes are capable of detecting, what area it will be covering, how long it is able to stay up and flying, what range capacity it has???

To broadcast what procedure the local authorities will most likely utilize and how fast they may respond??

This is not something to take lightly. They are playing with people's lives. It is disgraceful and , imo, bordering on criminal.
I'm emailing this to them and refusing to tune in except to the top and bottom of the hour updates (big deal as *that* will be ...NOT!)

This may be an unpopular view, but I'd rather have lives saved by keeping this monster in the dark, then be fed any and everything just to have something new to talk about.

My guess is he's asking for something that the cops don't want to make public.

I think there's a good chance they are asking for Ahmed Abdel-Rahman, the son of the blind sheik in federal prison for the 93 WTC bombing.

Terrorist Cleric's Son In Gitmo?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/620477/posts

Ahmed Abdel-Rahman was captured in Afghanistan last month by anti-Taliban forces. Vice President Cheney has indicated he is likely to face a U.S. military commission.

Abdullah Abdel-Rahman said it appeared anti-Taliban forces had turned over all their prisoners to the United States. He said he had heard reports that his brother was in U.S. military detention at Guantanamo.

Members of Egypt's parliament have demanded the government report to the People's Assembly on nine alleged Egyptian Al Qaeda members, including the sheik's son, detained by the United States, the London-based pan-Arab newspaper Asharq al-Awsat reported.

Another son of the sheik, Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, was reported dead last month after he was wounded in the bombardment of Afghanistan's Tora Bora caves. U.S. officials believe the two sons, in Afghanistan since 1989, were senior members of Al Qaeda, the terror group led by Osama Bin Laden. But Abdullah Abdel-Rahman has denied that, saying the group his father led and to which his brothers belonged, al-Gamaa al-Islamiyya, had several differences with Al Qaeda.

I believe the message may have been something along the lines of "give the sheik back his only living son, or you will find out what it is to lose your children".

This would explain the feds' trip to Gitmo and the school closures. It is also typical of the MO of these groups.

Of course the DOD releaed that information to the press, as opposed to the press digging it up from one of their "sources", which I found very strange. So it was no surprise to me when the next shooting was 100 miles outside of D.C.

has been highly trained by either the military or law enforcement or both, knows police procedures and how to thwart them, and has a grudge against Chief Moose and/or his department.

From what OR freepers have said about Chief Moose, he is not only an AA hire and promotion, he is an antiwhite bigot who specifically and viciously harrassed white female subordinates. Possible motive : A white cop passed over for promotion due to race, a white recruit kicked out of the academy for allegedly saying something "racist", the husband of one of those female cops harrassed by this racist bigot (being harrassed unjustly by superiors can lead to severe depression...What has happened to those women ? Did any have a nervous breakdown- or worse- because of Moose's words and actions?) FWIW, Moose is supposed to be antigay as well as antiwhite.

I can't remember if you live in the area. I live in Fairfax but not close to Seven Corners, but I used to drive through there to and from work in Falls Church (due to HOV restrictions) and it's just a mess, with all the traffic lights.

I just read this on another thread, and with your close proximity to this madness, I thought you'd find it interesting:

"My friend's daughter and another girl were jogging about 3 miles away from where the woman was shot at Home Depot in Fairfax. A bicycle rider with a rifle stock sticking out of his backpack passed them by. They stopped cold and stared at him. They called police and gave a full description. Shortly after the woman was shot. This could well be the guy and that means the police can create a full description."

If so, I sincerely hope it wasn't a "political" move!

Blind Sheik Rahman has much to do with U.S. terrorism By Eric Fleischauer DAILY Copy Editor

Osama bin Laden's expressed loyalty to him demonstrates Rahman's importance to Islamic militants. Last year, bin Laden swore in a videotape that "we will work with all-out power to free our brother, Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman and all our prisoners in America, Egypt and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)." One of Rahman's sons, Ahmed Abdul Rahman, was in the videotape and urged Muslims to "move forward and shed blood." The northern alliance announced Thursday that it captured Ahmed, who goes by the name "God's sword." Bin Laden and other Islamic militants issued threats as to the consequences of a conviction of Rahman, and more specifically threatened a violent reaction if Rahman ultimately dies in a U.S. prison.

They closed the college as well? It sounds like there was a specific threat to schools.
