Teaching islam in my local school
today | Self

Posted on 10/29/2002 8:10:26 AM PST by Hitlerys uterus

I hope this doesn't violate a rule of some sort but it bears directly on several threads I've seen recently.

I have never been one to avoid speaking plainly with my kids about anything including politics, religion ect. Recently, my 11 year old son said he would be learning about islam in his geography class so I have been prepping him with some pertinant questions and info to "share" with his class. I also told him should his teachers in any way attempt to force him to violate his religious beliefs he should contact me emmediately.

Not ten minutes ago he called and said the class is engaged in an exercise where they are to pretend they are muslims and explore how they would react to being made to eat pork and/or other violations of the muslim faith. He sought my guidence in whether he should seek to excuse himself from this class or not.

My first reaction was to tell him ask to be excused, but on second thought I changed my mind and my aproach to this problem. I explained to him that he should return to class and say he has consulted with his imam who has now issued a fatwa against the NEA decreeing them to be infidel polluters of the faith and subject to jihadi action by all faithful followers of islam.

He's a sharp kid and he asked how far he can go with it. I told him that as his imam I am authorizing the blowing up of children, woman, non-combatants, old people, and TEACHERS in particular. This is a matter of self defense I said so killing them in nasty ways is morally justyfied by the teaching of the quran. I am awaiting his return from school or a call from his teacher.

I would love to hear from other FReepers what you all think about my little bit of activism. Again, my apologies if this is in the wrong forum or a breach of rules.

At 5 his teachers sent him to the school shrink because they thought he didn't smile enough. He told him he didn't think the teachers were all that funny!

ROFLMAO !

I would call up and ask if they can pretend to be Christians next week, carrying a bible to school.

That was going to be my comment. When do the kids get to role play that they are Christians?

This is a great approach. Fighting fire with fire so to speak. Let us know the school's response please.

Which also brings up another question. Where in the world is there a "Christian" nation? Doesn't happen because Christians are tolerant and allow diverse religions to exist. Other religions do not allow dissent.

Haven't read the whole thread but there is no playacting in pretending to be muslim. According to the orthodoxy and even the so called moderates, if the children say a particular string of words, they ARE muslims, acknowledged or not, and such can be considered apostates.

It's six words or so, "there is no *** but ***** " or something like that.

Aristeides, you had that phrase on one of the Russian threads.....Sorry to bother you and thanks.

Not true. While Christians in America and other countries fit your description, it has not been the most peaceful of religions throughout history.

Yep. If you say the phrase "There is no *** but *****, and ***** is his prophet" in the presence of two Muslims, then you are considered to have converted to Islam

I wonder what the reaction would be to a segment on Catholicism which included having a Catholic priest come in and perform the baptism ceremony on each child in the class "just so they can see what it's like"

NOT at Christmas, that's for sure!

Christianity in its modern form is a peaceful, tolerant religion. Even the most fanatical of Christians who believe that non-Christians will burn in Hell nonetheless accept that it's each individual's prerogative to choose Hell of their own free will. The theocracies of Christendom are 600 years behind us... Roughly where Islam is today...

BUMP to hear the end of the story - you should let Rush/Hannity/O'Reilly et al know about this if it continues to be a "story." I like your quick thinking.

My son once was required to try to bring an Indian artifact to school. I gave him a poker chip from the local casino.

Too funny! I just homeschool mine instead of putting up with all this PC crap.

....they can explore their values and learn the process of criticizing and reconstructing them... under skilled guidance.

We know what "under skilled guidance" means, don't we?

Peacefulness and history were not my point. I was making the point that there are no "Christian" governments or nations as there are Islamic nations.

A good point. After a visit to Granada, Spain, I gained a strong respect for the artistry of those old-time Moors.

Can you imagine the outcry if students were asked to pretend to be Jewish or a Christian?

Good point. Falls under the "when hell freezes over" category.
