Operation Infinite FReep in Fresno, California (11-01-02)
11/01/02
Posted on 11/01/2002 10:26:49 PM PST by mtngrl@vrwc
It was a chilly fifty-five degrees in Fresno, California, tonight as a dozen Freepers and patriots stood on opposing corners from an equal number of peaceniks. Uncle Sam (Chadsworth) and the Statue of Liberty (Mtngrl@vrwc) joined us tonight to hold up signs asking those driving by to show their support for the troops and President Bush.
Fresno's motorists (at least those who drive through the city's busiest intersection of Blackstone and Shaw Avenues) for the most part are on our side. Hundreds and hundreds of people honked to show their support.
We noticed an immediate increase in the number of honks after the peaceniks punched their time cards at precisely 6:30 (as usual). When they are out there, a lot of people stare in disbelief at their audacity to actually hold up signs that say "Don't bomb Iraq" and therefore they don't really notice us standing there.
FReepers who attended tonight's protest were:
- Jim, Chris, and Sheila Robinson
- JustAmy
- FriendAnn
- Gracie1
- Chadsworth
- Mtngrl@vrwc
After the Freep, most of us met at Lyons for a couple of hours of good food and lively conversation.
To those who weren't able to attend tonight, we missed you! To those who were able to come, thanks! A special thanks to JustAmy for bringing cookies. They were wonderful!

Thanks! Tell Chads that I found his camera case. It's safe and sound in my car. Want me to bring it by tomorrow, or shall I hold onto it until next Friday night?

You and Chads looked so Americanie!See? I knew it was a word! :-)
To: ladyinred
They both looked great! Sheila was a bit worried about Chad though. He came over to the side for a smoke break and she says he darn near set his beard afire.
To: ladyinred
Yes, I'm home now and need a vacation, after our vacation. The kiddos are fine, we all had a great time, but the weather was not what we had hoped for. At least we had a high old time celebrating my daughter's B day. Yes, I cooked the celebratory B Day dinner. :-)
Oh my, I didn't know you can't sew. After all of these years of close friendship and you've never bothered to tell me that before. LOL
To: nopardons
Was that ladyinred's idea / handywork ? :-) I have been wanting to do the Uncle SamWorth for some time, (inspired by Justfrank. my hero). LIR make that costume - pfffff- she does best at finding doghouse crimes for poor Chadsworth. LOL
To: nopardons
OH dang, it is cool tonight and I think I will get sentenced as soon as LIR reads the first answer to you.
To: mtngrl@vrwc
great pics!! BTTT !!
To: chadsworth
Hey Chads ...... You looked great tonight. Tell Sheila you are way too coooool to start a fire in your beard!

You make one of THE best Uncle Sams, that I have ever seen ! That was a great idea and you pulled it off beautifully .:-)
Poor Chads, not the " evil " doghouse again. :-(
To: nopardons
LOL! I have taken sewing classes 3 times actually. I really wanted to learn. I signed up for beginning sewing thinking that would do the trick. When I get to the first class the instructor says, "make a dress." HUH? I needed, " This is a sewing machine, this is how to use said machine. This is a pattern, here is how you use said pattern." LOL! I didn't sign up for refresher sewing afterall, you would think they would show you how to use the darn machine!
To: Jim Robinson
LOL!
Tell Sheila that Chads is very good at making an ash of himself! :-) But she probably already knew that!
To: nopardons
Poor Chads, not the " evil " doghouse again. :-( Chad's always manages to get himself in there, especially on this particular thread! He delights in being a bad little pup and embarrassing his mommy! :-) I do that well enough on my own, without his help!
To: chadsworth; JustAmy
, (inspired by Justfrank. my hero). This pretty much explains why Chadsey is always in trouble doesn't it?

YIKES ! That's terrible. A beginners' class is supposed to be a
B-E-G-I-N-N-E-R's class.
I guess that you're not old enough to have been forced to take sewing in school; it used to be required, when I was a girl. Oh well, maybe that was just a New York thingie.
To: Mama_Bear
Thanks for lightning that picture for me Mama_Bear. I was just too plumb tuckered out tonight to do so myself. It looks lots better that way. ;-)
To: ladyinred
Poor Chads...a box of Godiva seems to be in order, yet again. LOL
To: Mo1
I hear you! I have four sewing machines as we speak, and all I do is pile stuff on top of them! :-)
To: Mo1
Great reply ! :-)

Got a picture of the wee one? I am sure everyone would LOVE to see it!
To: nopardons
I did have to take sewing in home ec in high school. That is something better not spoken about! :-)

You FResno FReepers are the best. Sorry I couldn't make down there tonight. The costumes are terrific!
To: ladyinred
I had sewing in grammar school ; however, my mother and grandmother made certain that I had learned to sew on a button correctly, way before then. LOL
I don't own a sewing machine ; however, I did make the kiddo a Halloween costume ( she wanted to be Yoda one year, of all things and I made the costume .), without a pattern, by hand, when she was 9. I'll NEVER do that again. Y-U-C-K ! Being a mother means doing the unexpected and doing it well. It does to me, anyway. LOL

Lady Liberty aka Mtngrl & Uncle Samworth aka Chadsworth ( aka doghouse dweller)
I only have one pic to post, the rest were just repeats of what has been posted earlier.

The costumes were great fun and did draw a little attention from the motorists. Uncle Sam did get some disrespectrul sign language and a young parasite lady started yelling " Peace is Patriotic". I just wonder how antipatriotic she will remain when some terrorist wipes out something or someone that she has an interst in. These people just don't get it - Peace does not mean patriotism until our troops enforce peace with the current efforts going on. Why these Parasites don't see that if it weren't for the efforts of our troops ( GOD SPEED FOR THEM) and the current administration's efforts to clean things up is far beyond my comprehension. There, I am through ranting now!
Great report Ms Libertylady. Now I have to warm up my doghouse and it is Justfranks fault!
To: nopardons
Poor Chads...a box of Godiva seems to be in order, yet again. LOL Been there, done that, --don't work any more, done wore it out.
Anyone know of a Godiva chocolate upgrade -- need something new to keep me out of the lil house. LOL
To: JustAmy; Jim Robinson
Tell Sheila you are way too coooool to start a fire in your beard! OK - Shiela, I am way too coooool to start a fire in my beard.
Was that OK?
JIM - Did Shiela pick herself a flower tonight , again?
