That's an awfully big missile for no nearby Airport towers to pick it up. BTW, it also looks kind of fake.

Lets call BarBRA Streisand, I'm sure she has a theory.

OK, so what's a ROD?
To: NYer
It looks like the usual "rod" type of ufo. A goggle search of "Rods ufo" turns up all kinds of images similar to this one.
To: NYer
Standard UFO shot. Note that size is much larger than a "missle", and no exhaust.
Doesn't mean it is a bunch of little green/gray guys - but it is a UFO (by definition.)

If it is an insect, what type of insect is it? And why couldn't the FBI id it as such?

Yes, it is an insect that the FBI could not identify and had to send to Military Intel?
What type of insect looks like that?

Here is an image of ordinary bees taken from
a "rods" webiste:
You can plainly see that these bees are magically turned into mysterious "rods" when filmed with a video camera moving across the field of view at a high rate of speed.

I live just outside of Albany (Niskayuna), and this is no big thing here.
In my tavern, no one has even mentioned it - of course most of the guys here see stuff flying around all the time anyway.

It could be any kind of insect.
Typical video is 30 frames/second. Most insects beating wings can far outpace that, so what your seeing is the distance the bug flew in 1/30th sec (the striaght line) and the two sets of "fins" are two strokes of the wings.
At least that's my guess.

Here is a jpg of your average Bee, rod-style! This really is a Bee. This pic was taken with a video camera to prove that rods are just insects flying close to the camera. It looks a lot like the "missle".

See thchronic's posts. Look, there are no space aliens, ancient astronauts, psychics, dimensional doorways, or Easter Bunnies. The X-Files was not a documentary.
