Fortunately, the President you love is better at building coalitions and allowing dissent than many on FR.

"Public transportation infrastructure, OTOH, facilitates commerce and benefits everybody."

The availability of insurance likewise facilitates commerce and benefits everybody. If an insurer's risk is undefinable and open-ended, as in the case of terrorism, then it is impossible for him to offer insurance. If insurance is impossible to get, people will not be willing to invest in projects that are vulnerable to large-scale terrorism—projects like, let me point out again, the bullet trains you advocate so tirelessly. Unless your plan is for these high-speed rail corridors to be entirely owned and operated by the government, you need to have private companies willing to accept liability for 300 passengers getting killed by a terrorist, and no one will do that without insurance.

Coulter pics I can take --at least she is a political commentator/author -- same with the laurie Dhuie/FOX Babes stuff--at least they have a connection -- it's the Brittney Spears and Anna Kournakova threads that I don't get ??

(great brittney one today -- telling us "gals" that we should have flat tummies -- yeah--mine was flat too when I was 20 years old -- let Brittney bear 3 kids and we'll see what happens )

I can't say I've ever heard of him. He doesn't write for the Telegraph, so therefore he doesn't exist. ;)

Regards, Ivan

Well, I didn't wash it for a few days, but I had no choice after a while!

The most amazing thing about the experience was that, in the few moments I was talking with him, he directed every bit of attention to me, and as far as I'm concerned I could have been the only one in the room.

He talked softly and looked right at me. (He also shook my son's hand). Afterwards we both had dropped jaws and my son said, "I just shook hands with my Commander in Chief! (He's in the Army)" and I said, "I was just KISSED by the PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES!!"

If I could put time in a bottle, that moment would be at the top!

(My husband was jealous that our son and I got to meet him, and HE didn't!......but I didn't gloat!)

Just because you say it isn't so doesn't make it so. :)

People said the same thing about Bush 41 after the Gulf War. Two years is FOREVER in politics.

I NEVER saw his father as charismatic -- not in his first term. His popularity was high because of other reasons which were offset. I think Bush in the 2004 debates will be as charismatic as he was today and thats a HUGE issue to overcome for dims. Remember when Al Gore attacked his wife on stage with his tongue -- and supposedly it was the most romantic thing any woman had ever seen (no offense to female freepers)?
