This should be part and parcel of a long-term strategy to bleed the Left of most of its funding.

Tort reform will be a major part of it, of course. Much of the Democrats' funding comes from the filthy trial lawyer pirates, who deserve not only pauperization but public horse-whipping.

The unions will need to be crushed, especially the Teamsters and the NEA. It is obvious that they were up to their eyeballs in sleazy deals to benefit Clinton and Gore. It's time they had a proctological examination by the Justice Department and IRS every time they spend a dollar. We can start by really cramming the Beck decision down their throats.

Not just the 'watermelon' environmental groups, but the whole panoply of non-profit bleeding-heart foundations needs to have its Federal funding eviscerated. They profess to be helping poor folks, but by and large they are boondoggles for mobilizing armies of otherwise unemployable social-work and liberal-arts majors. These worthless parasites, along with the unions, provide the foot soldiers for the Democratic machine. They need a boot in the ass and an honest job in the private sector to keep them out of mischief.

I hope W. is thinking this far ahead and this ruthlessly. If so, we will bleed the leftists white, and the Republicans can be cemented in power for a generation.

It's outrageous that Americans are forced to pay for the abuse of their own Constitutional protections. If these groups cannot float their own boat they should go down.

I'm saving this article to send to Cornyn.

Mandatory drug testing for ALL employees of 501(c) tax-exempt corporations as a condition for non-profit status would get rid of all Leftist non-profit tax leeches...

Funny part is these groups float their own boat just fine.

Henry wasn't overstating it when he described the Nature Conservancy as "an environmental organization that has more assets and income than many third-world countries". The have over 3 billion in reported assets, not including their sub-congolmerates like the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.

As immoral as fed funding of these groups is, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what they get from private trusts and corporate interests. Of course that money comes with strings attached, "do as we wish or we put our money somewhere else". Those strings could be anything from land grabbing to targeting competitive business interests.

The amount of federal grant dollars flowing to not-for-profits is a very interesting subject indeed. I'd like to see the issue get a lot more press, particularly with respect to the accountability those organizations have to taxpayers.

Just how much money do the taxpayers fork over to environmental organizations? Nobody knows. Ask your congressman and your senator. They can't tell you. That's right, nobody knows.

If government was honest; more precisely, if politicians and bureaucrats were honest their response would be an unequivocal 'zero' -- "no taxpayer money is given to environmental organizations."

U.S. Constitution
Article 1
Section 8

Clause 17: To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;--And

This is key in this article: There is absolutely no justification for the U.S. taxpayer to subsidize these organizations. For the most part, these organizations exist for the purpose of promoting public policy to advance their agendas, which consistently condemn subsidies for everyone else but themselves.

Congress in 2003 must make it illegal for any non profit to donate $'s to any political candidate or political party. Any non profit caught donating money to political candidates, loses its non profit status for a minimum of 25 years (That should destroy most of these phoney non profits).

If caught in any illegal campaign funding, they have to open up their books for two decades to see where their funds came from. If there is proof of laundering money for political candidates or receipt of money from any terrorist nation or group, the executives and board members are tried for eco terrorism.

Funding is vital for all terrorist groups. Without covert funding, they can't carry out their terrorism.

Since the days of Jimmy Carter as anti president, the key greens of America have worked 24/7 to make us more dependent on Opecker Oil and to block any exploration and use of our own energy. That is not an accident.

"Voters, it's time to demand an end to subsidies for the greens."

Is there any way we can get access to this actual data so we can be intelligent when we inform our representatives?

These phoney non profits probably require drug screening test before they hire someone.

Anyone who is clean with no drugs on board, stored in their hair and fat tissues would not be hired.

Also, anyone who believes in the Constitution, God, and the other fabrics of society that hold it together would not be hired.

Last, but not least, no real scientist will ever be hired by any enviral group. Only charlatans, fakers and liars can apply to be a scientist for any enviral group.
