SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A couple who claimed they fled China to escape threats of forced sterilization and abortion have been denied asylum by a federal appeals court.

An immigration judge and the Board of Immigration Appeals had earlier said Xu Ming Li and Xin Kui Yu were ineligible for asylum. In an opinion filed Thursday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed.

Doesn't this silly couple realize that the United States does not grant asylum to people who are fleeing forced abortions and a communist regime? Political refugees are not welcomed into the United States, but the borders are wide open for slave labor. Their lawyer should of advised them to get a job a Tysons Chicken or pick vegetables for us lazy Americans.

"If your convictions are so strong why don't you go over to China and fight the system there!"

This is a really stupid argument. It's like saying, "Hey, if you so against the Nazis, why do you go over there to Nazi land and get your self kill..."

Funny, I don't see this outpouring of love and sentiment on FR when it comes to Mexican immigrants....

Chinese immigrants generally have a better record of becoming productive enough to be paying more taxes than they consume in social services

"I understand your frustration although it's misdirected..."

I agree with you that people need to follow rules when they come to the US. Their situation is somewhat similar to Elian's. Does the United States send them (him) back now when we know that they'll end up in the Laogai or get killed for their organs (i.e., Elian getting brainwashed).

Did you believe that we should have allowed Elian to stay?

China also has a policy of forced marraige. (Government chooses who you marry, not you)

Since when? And where?

They choose your job for you

Not happening as much any more.

Check out a good map of China sometime. 15% of the land is arable according to this source. Sorry but the carrying capacity of China is not infinite.

The northwestern provinces have great economic value because only about 15% of China's land is arable and therefore the dairy and meat resources of the grasslands could provide much food for an already overpopulated nation.

If they don't like who you are marrying, they "make you see the light of your error" or.. sterilize you or kill you. Your choice. Since Tze-Tung took over.

Thank you for pinging sir. This story about China's forced abortions is not reported enough in the press, because they want this policy for America.

As she yelled, kicked and demanded they release her, she was told she would receive similar tests in the future, and if found pregnant, would be subject to an abortion, Li said. Her boyfriend, Yu, then 21, could also be sterilized, she said the officials told her.

This sounds like a utopian goal of our own US Planned Parenthood under Democrat rule.
If America can accept terrorists through the INS, these people certainly should recieve assylum. How can a good person deny them life?

"Jesus went to the sinners, so did St. Paul. Are they stupid?"

Totally irrelevant argument. You are arguing that if someone is passionate against the Communists in China that they should walk into the lion's den and get themselves killed.

That is not the purpose or reason why Jesus or Paul went to the sinners.

Wrong argument.

Or maybe you don't know I'm Jewish.

For all I know, you're Martian. Really. I neither know, nor care, what the ethnic background of anybody here is, unless they make an issue of it. Comparing the Nazi Germans to the Red Chinese is apt. I shall continue to do so.

I don't need to go to China to fight abortion... We commit enough of it here.

I'll leave your irrelevant argument with a quote from Alexander Pope:

This is patently absurd. C'mon, throw me some red meat -- what's your evidence for this claim?

My Chinese wife (who is still a PRC citizen) and all of her relatives are anxious to know how they managed to marry without first clearing their choice with the government.
