To Muslims, all the lands of the nation-states are by definition, dar-al-harb—the abode of war. What war is this? It is the continual war against the rest of the world that is required of all faithful Muslims.

Miss Turkey only won because Miss FreeRepublic (Victoria Delsoul) was not there to compete and win.

You forgot one small detail. The Caliphate was abolished by the Turkish Parliament on March 3, 1924 rendering all these c;aims completely useless. You also do not have any knowledge of the variety of nations that have accepted Islam. The Wahhabi Arabs that seem to be the most vocal bunch these days are actually a small minoroty detested by a great majority of Muslims around the world. Their ideology is profoundly different from the rest. I can give you a lot of details about the differences between their beliefs and those of Turks for instance if you are willing to listen with an open mind.

She had nothing to do with the deaths of those people. A lot of people thought she would win before the horrifying events took place anyway. My Nigerian friends (both Muslim and Christian ones) came over and told be about how beatiful she was and would probably get the title before any of this happened. Have you ever been to Turkey?

I can give you a lot of details about the differences between their beliefs and those of Turks for instance if you are willing to listen with an open mind.

Don't waste your breath, Turk2. Some people don't want to know about modern Turkey, they just want to continue ancient hostilities.

I was the principal of a school of nursing in Istanbul for three years. All of our student nurses were Turkish citizens, but their religions were varied: Moslem, Jew, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, and Gregorian. Everyone was treated exactly the same.

I was the only Christian that celebrated Christmas on December 25th, so it was a regular school day. I was very surprised and touched when I came to my office on Christmas morning to find my desk covered with Christmas presents from various members of the hospital's medical and nursing staff.

Turkey is truly a secular society and the people are among the nicest I have ever known. I am honored to have lived and worked with them and will never forget their many kindnesses shown during my years there.
