If it were not for Christ...none of the other religions/holidays would even be celebrated.

I think you need to lie down.

If you happen to run into the gentleman, please convey for me my appreciation of his painting that was used for the card. The detail was so painstakingly created that I first thought it was a photograph. My daughter is an art major, and pointed out to me the excellence of both the composition and the use of light in the painting.

He should be very proud, as should all Georgians.

What a joke not even a mention of Christ. GWB is way to concerned what people the PC world thinks.

Yea, I'll bet Jesus is really pissed at 'ol GW.

Bet Jesus would have given these folks what-for back when he walked the Earth for not making his birthday a main event.

I think you miss the point.

GW lives it. He doesn't need to broadcast it to make it known. He's not a "Jesus spokesman", he is a walking, living Christian, not a frikkin billboard. Can someone walk up to you and say "I know you're a Christian by how you live your life" as they do to GW?

Please see my reply #94 - the more I study the Bush family, the more I am impressed by them. They have managed to place a billboard announcing Merry Christmas into this card and it was missed by all of us.

Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ's birth..the grand piano and a quote from the old testament does not suffice for this Catholic Christian not when my beliefs are attacked daily. Besides America is 90% Christian. It is a Joke.

I don't frequent Church but I do believe in God and I have accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. But what I don't quite understand this line of thinking. It's not like the President has never talked about God or Jesus in public in the past. The guy proclaimed Jesus Christ has his hero in a public politcal debate for goodness sake. A verse from the Bible, although from the Old Testament (BLASPHEMY! ), is included on the card. What more do you want from the guy? Would you rather have Gore as President and have the Manger scene on the White House Christmas Cards? SSSSSSEEEEEESSSSSHHHHH

Perhaps you should move to a more religious country, say Iran or Egypt.

...Eisenhower and Coolidge's Christams card..they are better than a PIANO...

How are they better? Both cards show a secular nature. "Season's Greetings" is quite generic. You were complaining that Christ has been taken out of the White House Christmas cards. And yet, the history of the cards shows a long-standing practice. Not just invented by the present President.

Has anyone informed NY Catholic that Jesus, Mary and Joseph were really Jews?

I'll bet they never celebrated Christmas either.

What I mean is that Christmas celebration has prompted other Religions to be included out of a need to be be recognized at this time of year.

Sorry meant to post to Eisenhower and Coolidge's Christams card..they are better than a PIANO...

Puh-leeze. Sticking the Presidential seal and a generic (which is what started this foolishness in the first place) "Season's Greetings" on a card requires all the thoughtfulness and artistic talent of a chimpanzee.

The President's job is leading this country, not converting it to a State Religion (and I am certain you believe it should be led out of the Vatican!).

The President and his lovely Wife are doing a fine job, witnessing for Christ by their conduct and sincerity. This is called the "Separation of Church and State". That it has been subverted into "Freedom From Religion" is more of an indictment of the single-issue conservatives that allow the liberals to gain too much power.

I'm not buying what you are selling, because God's Grace and Forgiveness isn't for sale! That is what Martin Luther discovered.

It appears that you don't care who you drive away from Christianity, do you?

Is this "Conversion at the Point of a Bayonet?"

After looking at your sheet, I somehow think Christ would be uncomfortable around you. He probably wouldn't measure up either. Too forgiving. Too compassionate. Too loving.

Hmmm, I see no mention of Jesus in his speech. Just something about a "quiet birth" in a small town. GWB is afraid to say Jesus.

"Flor de Noche Buena"

The beautiful poinsettia, a Christmas tradition in nearly every American home during the holidays, was virtually unknown here until 1851. Dr. J.R. Poinsett, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, brought this showy plant back to his home in South Carolina from south of the Rio Grande. He, never in his wildest dreams, could have predicted that the poinsettia would become the leading flowering potted plant grown in the United States. It even exceeded chrysanthemums and geraniums in recent production quantity studies. Paul Ecke Greenhouses in Encicitas, California leads the U.S. production of poinsettias, but hundreds of other growers help us beautify our homes, churches, and almost every other public building.

Legend tells us that the poinsettia, properly known as Euphorbia pulcherrima, came into being when a poor Mexican girl had no gift for the Christ child. As she walked to church on Christmas Eve, she was deeply saddened. Touched by an angel, she gathered twigs from along the roadside. She placed them at the altar and they miraculously turned into the magnificent red 'Flor de Noche Buena,' flower of the Holy Night.

Look on the sideboard behind the piano.

Card schmard,,,,instead of sitting here pissing and moaning about hurt feelings regarding the White House Christmas card, I think I 'd rather spend my time reflecting for a while on the families of those lost to the 9/11 criminal act against FREEDOM. I will also be spending some time remembering and thanking those all over the world who have stepped up to the plate and continue to defend America and Americans against our enemies, both foreign and domestic, and send them my prayers of thanks and comfort during this CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY season, while they separated from their loved ones.

I noticed that too...but I didnt want to start fighting. All I tried to point out is that Christianity is being attacked on all levels...maybe it has been always maybe not. My example with the Christmas caed was probably not the best to prove my point.
