Rules of convention sites: big city, plenty of hotels, media access, major media markets.

We won't need Florida - it'll be in the bag, and this President very much wants to win New York in 2004. Plus the spillover to the Connecticut, NJ, and PA markets is enormous.

Florida seems like an excellent choice. We had it in Philly last time. Move it around.

Besides, Bloomberg does not belong on the stage with us.

Have it in NY, but Bloomberg doesn't speak. Rudy can talk, but not Bloomberg.

I'll go if they have it in Mississippi!

I'm sure they don't care if I go are not.

I don't have a big bank roll to give them.

Yeah, Bloomberg didn't even mention what he was going to do concerning cigarettes when he was running for Mayor. And I know when the smoking ban goes into effect and puts many resturants & bars outta buisness he is going to blame it on the bad economy.

I have a friend NY currently in the Airforce (nonsmoker) coming home for a few weeks next summer we and other friends (smokers & nonsmokers alike)were going down to hang out in Manhattan for a few days but since setting this trip up i.e. Hotel reservations, transportation and such must be done well in advance and we since we didn't know how this smoking ban proposal was going to turn out we already decided we are going to Montreal instead. The money that
would we have spent in NYC will now instead be spend in Montreal. Between us we would have spend a couple of thousand dollars. So already because of this smoking
ban New York City has already lost money it so desperately needs to another city.

But that's OK, More Nonsmokers will flock to the City to replace us right? LOL!

But all I have to say it is just a Sad day in the history United States of America when I as a citizen of this
great nation has to go to a foreign country because of a lack of freedom here.

What fries me is that the RATS stole the election in South Dakota, with the whole nation watching. It reminds me of a mugging with everyone watching, and no one doing anything.

I don't fall for your thread at all! I think its a ploy! In fact I am willing to bet on it. Why because I think you know NYC is the best place that we should have the convention which it is.

Dawee. If Thune wasn't going to run for gov, he would have balked. But FAR BE IT FROM US to require honesty from our own party. Politics as usual.

What Ploy would that be?

You would lose that bet.

Bloomberg is the national joke.

He is downright hated here in New York (All of New York not just the city) and once the full effect of his policies take hold the city will be in worse shape than even it was during the 1970's.

And despite the results of the last election Pataki isn't that popular either. His first term was wonderful than he turned into a tax & spend Liberal

Putting these two in the spotlight with George Bush would hurt more than any gains he makes. Unless the Republicans do something bold like kicking Bloomberg out of the party.

"Any hope of Lazio running in the next primary? Or does he think the Senate would be better?"

I thought Lazio was from Long Island, So he can't run for Mayor.

Indeed. As a fellow NY resident, Bloomberg is simply this: nothing. He does nothing. A transit strike is going to start on Monday, and what's Bloomberg's suggestion on how to ride it out? Ride a bicycle to work or school. Yeah, that's the ticket. Ride a bicycle in the middle of winter.

The greatest accomplishment so far was getting NYC into the final round of being picked to host the Olympics in 2012. Put that convention in Tampa. Florida's 27 electoral votes are much more easier to obtain than New York's 31 electoral votes.

Why in heaven's name would you want Lazio to run. He has no fire, no backbone, no ideas.

2 yrs ago the GOP Convention was in Philly. At the time there was a liberal Democratic Mayor. I don't think the party bigwigs give a hoot who the Mayor is or what his policies are.

New York could use an economic boost by bringing in 30,000 big spending Repbublicans.

I might be a little partial toward NY, I wouldn't have to stay in a hotel for a wk, away from my family. Go NY

Have the convention in California at Disneyland. Hahahahah! That would hang Eisner and his libby friends by their own rope by showing them up. And they'd have to be down there grubbing for our custom, too. The Dems would never hobnob with the common folk like that. The kings and queens of show biz reserve themselves in special booths with special catering, away from the proles they purport to represent. I say we should have our convention at DL and eat hot dogs and hamburgers like normal people, not champagne and caviar like the limousine liberals.

Yes, I know what you'll say. But heck, we're broke thanks to Governor Gray "I am a crook" Davis. We need the money.

True, But the Liberal Democrat in Philly wasn't one of their own. So at least he was a non-factor.

But having it in New York will put one of their own who is a complete moron and who will have probably driven the city into the ground by 2004 on display.

I think it will hurt GW & the Republicans in the New York area and possibly around the country. After the convention if it is held in NYC I can just see the attack ads by Democrats showing Bloomberg and Bush together.
