If Rove is backing First then it's time to get solidly behind Nickols! Rove needs to be run out of DC if not out of the country, he's bent on destroying conservatives and replacing them with RINOS!

Absolutely. Check out my post (#17) above. Frist and Rove are both Rinos of the first order.

If Frist were very conservative then he'd support the 2nd Amendment. Alas, he does not.

I wonder if Newsweek will include this:

"An American Insurrection: The Battle of Oxford, Mississippi, 1962,"
"As dawn came on Oct. 1, 1962 – this has never really come out before, and there is a bit of a mystery to it – there was a horrible riot that had just occurred. There were 375 injuries. There were hundreds of civilian arrests. There was pure chaos in the town of Oxford, on the campus of the University of Mississippi and this enormous military invasion of Oxford, Miss. Troops were dropping in by helicopter and convoy. What's one of the first things they do? They conduct a lightning surprise raid on the fraternity house that Trent Lott is the president of. They discover, and seize and remove from the fraternity, 24 weapons – shotguns, rifles and a pistol.
... he (Lott) spent the night before rounding his boys up and keeping them out of trouble. So he was a leader that night. It's documented. "

The Rove comments will not be authoritatively sourced IMO ( I especially don't think McConnell would have been defending Lott today if the WH had decided he should go- Rove's instincts are highly regarded). We'll see if I'm right.

Frist is one of those who promised to term-limit themselves.

One of his favorite soundbites was that on the "citizen legis-LAY-tohr". Evidently, now that power corrupted him, he forgot about the 'citizen' half and he'll stay to legislate for as long as the unwashed keep re-electing him.

Drudge's teasers coming on Sunday (prior to his radio show) are as reliable as the timings of Clinton's adm dumping on Fridays.

I'm listening to George Will on "This Week." I thought Lott ought to go because he's such an idiot. I still think he ought to go for that reason. Will doesn't think that Pickering will be renominated because of what Lott's done. Lott's a liar, as well. He says that he was speaking of Thurmond's support of defense in the '48 party platform-- only, there's "not a syllable" about national defense in the Democratic platform for that year. Lott is a closet racist/segregationist. Too bad for him. Too bad for the Republicans if he stays as majority leader.

The man that successfully against long odds engineered the takeover of the Senate now thinks that a new leader is needed? Yeah, we sure don't want to listen to him. < / sarcasm >

You know what makes me so mad...the Repubilcans...we, the grass root, worked so hard this past election to get these guys into office, and then in one moment, we're set back an incredible degree. This movement, this party, is bigger than one man. He needs to go, and he needs to go NOW. If he gives up his Senate Seat, then he really is just a closet racist, who only cares about his own personal needs. Screw him.

2nd Amendment Voting record of Frist that you conveniently omitted:

- He voted Yea to confirm an anti-gun Clinton judge.

- He voted against defeating the Hatch-Craig gun control amendment.

- He voted Yea on an amendment forcing gun sellers to include trigger locks with every purchase.

- He voted Yea to gut the Smith amendment. This allowed Janet Reno to police the FBI regarding gun registration.

- He voted Yea on the young adult gun ban, which would severly penalize parents if their children even touched an "assault" weapon (like a little Ruger Mini-14).

- He voted against replealing the Clinton/Brady medium capacity magazine ban.

- He voted against a Lott resolution that called for tougher enforcement of existing gun laws and protecting the general rights on gun owners.

This can go on for a long time, but suffice to say that for every one instance you can give me of Frist voting pro-2nd Amendment, I can give you 2 instances of the opposite.

Trent Lott might be a doofus, but we need a one seat majority in the Senate to move judges through the process.

We need a Senate majority to move good legislation through for the American people. Lott needs to understand this and be the good soldier for his party.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Lott, no balls AND no brains.

I'm sorry he has to go this way, but make him go sit in the corner, shut up , and vote the way he's told.

Sen.s Frist & Allen, these guys are bonafide. Good examples of what we need to run the Senate show.

Frist isn't a lawyer, a bigger plus! Allen's a lawyer, but not a dirt bag, so he's OK too.

And you approve of the Senate going 50-50 oir worse with Chaffee caving for the RATS? I don't get that reasoning. The gov of Mississippi is a RAT and the would appoint another RAT to succeed Lott. Do you and Rove favor more of Dashole as majority leader and more obstructionism? That would mean goodbye to FED judgeships for Bush. Get a clue!
