Bob Dole may have been a RINO, but he would have stepped down for the good of the party.

This is really Big. It proves that GWB will take the high road and to hell with the consequences.

"Do the right thing" is in GWB's mind and that is very important for America. Trent Lott must go. GWB has made up his mind. This will influence America deeply, and cause a fundamental shift in thinking for all voters.

I like the way this is leaking out, too.

Nice touch.

Please take care,

ex-Texan

Paulus,
I've said it in 50 of my other posts, but not in the one above-- By "ought to go," I mean as Senate Majority leader, not as A U. S. senator. He's as entitled to be there as Byrd, Thurmond, etc.

.

Well, the only thing that is keep the Republicans from removing Lott is giving the Democrats a sense of success.

Most Republicans are quite annoyed by Lott. The, and we, feel that he is way too accomidating to the Democrats. We would like to see him step down from a Leadership post. Not as a Senator, mind you, but from the Republican Senate leadership.

The Democrat bashing of Lott based on an obscure reference during a Birthday celibration is pure Partisan bashing by the Democrats. You won't find a single Republican calling for him to step down because of this offhand remark. Conservatives are far too pragmatic for this kind of behavoir.

Many Conservatives would LOVE to give the Democrats just what they are asking for...Have Lott stand down and put a real HARD NOSE in his place. We would love to give them the kind of BS that they gave us during the 1994 congressional session.

As far as Lott is concerned...He had better fly straight and be tough. Democrats and the Media are not his friends. They are pure spiteful enemies that wish him harm. he should start treating them as such.

They are trying to pull a Newt Gringich on him. Don't let them, but at the same time...Toughen up. Gosh... Lott you are from Mississippi for gosh's sake! Act like a MAN , not like you were raised in Cambridge...Jeeze!

Oh please, not EVERY pro gun amendment or resolution is a great, or even good idea. And the anti-gun judge...I'm sure if you looked hard enough, every conservative Senator could be tarred with that one.

His votes on these issues probably get him a lot of support from the women of Tennessee. Maybe enough for his margin of victory over his democrat opponent.

Well, the only thing that is keep the Republicans from removing Lott is giving the Democrats a "sense" of success.

The DimRATs already have a real success here. Get him out now and make an issue of how come they let KKK Byrd stay and Hollings was the one who hung the Stars and Bars in South Carolina. That is the only option. If not, we bleed slowly until Nov 2004, and then HildeBeast will be President.

If what Lott said is so despicable and unforgivable, Karl ought to be calling for Lott to resign from the Senate completely. The fact that he is not proves that this whole incident has nothing to do with what Lott said and everything to do with getting him out of leadership of the GOP Senators.

You are a sleaze-bag, Karl, to gin up bogus "RACIST!!! RACIST!!! RACIST!!!" slander from whole cloth. Shame on you. If you want Lott out, be forthright about it instead of using Jesse Jackson's sleazy tactics.

Nonsense. The other GOP Senator from Tennessee (Fred Thompson) has a much more impressive pro-gun voting record, and this hasn't hurt his political career one bit, nor has it prevented him from beating his Rat opponents.

Yes, one can only imagine the horror of Hillarys reign. I can think of nothing worse for this country short of a massive Nuclear attack from Russia. Seriously.

I agree.

But you realize this can cut both ways.

If we lose the senate over this little flap we are still hobbled and tomorrow the rats are still going to call us racists. That's just a given.

The sun rises in the east and the rats will scream that we are "racist"

Two things you can count on till the end of time.

Not only that Rove's desire is to make a better name for himself than Bush at the expense of Bush and the GOP.

You don't think the standards ought to be higher for national party leadership than for just a garden variety Senator?

Lott should step down as Majority Leader. He has been beat like a dog and played like a fiddle over and over again by Dasshole. His "50/50" power sharing idea was rammed down his throat by the RATS.

Let him keep his seat but his days as leader need to end.

Of course the standards should be higher. But should the standards be established by race-baiters? Should those who have questionable history in race issues be the determiners of what's right or not?

I don't think so.

Frist is in his second term. He was elected first in 94 and reelected in 2000. This term, his second, will end in 2006.

I can't believe how quick people are to condemn every Republican without regard to the facts. Sorry no one seems to live up to your conservative standards.
