Mark my words: This is the beginning of the Gore '08 campaign. After Kerry, Edwards, or that Vermont governor gets clobbered by Bush in 2004, the Dems will be looking for a "white knight" to redeem them in 2008. Gore is a goof, but not a complete moron. He believes that he only needs to be patient...he'll only be in his early '60s in '08.

"Gore said he thought he could beat Bush in a rematch"BWAAHAHAHAHAA...
yeah, right

"A year ago, Gore accepted the job of vice chairman of Metropolitan West Financial, a Los Angeles-based financial services holding company" I'm sure that 60 Minutes has fully investigated this company.

"...a 5-4 Supreme Court vote against him."Well, almost, AP. It was 5-4 to hear the case. It was then 7-2 against Gore.

He used his expertise in science and technology to be the White House point man on telecommunications reform and the information superhighway. He was in charge of "reinventing government" by conducting an agency-by-agency review to reduce waste and promote efficiency. Oh pleassssssssssseeeeeeeeeee! I am trying not to puke here.

"I don't think it's the right thing for me to do," Gore said... Hmmm...perhaps he's a little smarter that I thought...

This guy has the absolute worst sense of political timing I have ever seen. The Dems had managed to keep Trent Lott on the front page and on the TV screen for days. Now, all over the news, the media Gore-basms are occurring. We should send him a big thank-you note.

"Gore ran for president unsuccessfully in 1988..."Gee, I could've sworn that was Dukakis who ran in '88.

Al Gore has never recovered from the Freeping he took..
Many thanks again, D.C. Freepers you are the GREATEST!
To: kattracks
I cannot remember someone who is leading in he polls dropping out. I also cannot remember anyone who is working his tail off to get on TV, get money and attack his opponent suddenly drop out.
Freepers, there is something wrong here. I do recall he had some sort of a business meeting in China. Does anyone have any information on this? I don't know if this is it or something else. But it sounds like someone spoke to AL Gore about something very important. Following this he decided to quit the race. This has happened to a senator or representative from time to time, but never a fish this big.
There is nothing different in Gore and the race today that wasn't true last week.
To: kattracks
Quitting is not enough. As the ass-end of the Clinton-Gore Administration, Gore has to be deported to Albania or Paraguay.

He could change his mind later, telling the Democratic Party not to get "snippy about it."

The only thing I can think of that would bring this guy to a halt is the inability to raise any money. I believe he has discovered that those who supported him big time in the past are now turning off the lights when they see him coming.

This almost guarantees that Joe Lieberman will be the RAT nominee, that being the case, that also guarantees that the Greens will be running there own canidate. The greens and the left wing of the RAT party hates "holy joe" more then the people here at free republic. Long story short. We'll Have Bush cruising to re-election, but will have a hell of a battle keeping the house and senate.
