I know I was watching the capitulations earlier on this morning but quit around 10 am as they were making me too ill.

We should demand he stay, but in another position.
That way, he's "punished", but still gets to keep the Senate.
If that happened, The Democrats will have lost everything. Their spin would be irrelivant. They don't get to fill the Senate seat with a crimminal, nor refer to Republicans as "Segragation supporters".

Many don't care for Lott, but we need tokeep the Senate. That needs to be first and foremost on our minds. It's a Democrat victory if we cave. The voters chose Republicans to lead the Senate twice. I don't think they'd like it if we screwed them again!

Look, this would be a victory for us. We would be expecting a kick in the balls, but all we'd get is a punch in the face. That's a victory!

It couldn't have happened without a willing press. THey've been lockstep with the DNC on this matter. And it is indeed astounding that the DNC has been able to paint us all with such a broad brush for years, and have it stick.

The Dems realize now that they screwed up again! WE want Lott out so we can move a genuine and healthy conservative agenda through that body. Lott has been an obstacle to that with his pusilanimous stature and cowardly comprimises with the left. THANKS FOR THE FAVOR RATS! You've done something the footsoldiers could not do in their own ranks- and for their own good. I sure hope we do not lose this opportunity.

If he was a leader he wouldn't have apologized.

He would have said that his remarks were not related to the segregation aspect of Thurmonds canidacy and told anybody who thought otherwise that they were the ones mistaken.

You don't apologize for something you are not guilty of unless you are stupid.

He is either a racist, a stupid racist, or just plain stupid, but whatever he is he cannot be trusted with the GOP Senate majority.

Exactly. When the Rats were calling for Lott's head, they expected the GOP to rally around Lott. When that didn't happen, and they saw signs that Bush was willing to jettison Lott, they changed their tune.

Man, oh man. This is rich. How am I ever going to get anything done while this is going on? It's like watching a cliff-hanger movie where you know the bad guys will end up hanging themselves, but you just aren't sure how they'll do it.

Looking to the future, if Lott is not removed, anyone got any suggestions as to what addditional acts of groveling Lott can take. He is probably reading these comments to find how he can more effectively show how he is aligned with the socialist left black caucus.
