Hello All! I had an idea this morning and I thought some clever Freepers from around the country could help me have some fun. I would like to make a list that pairs US Senators with appropriate songs. When we finish, I'd like to e-mail it to friends for a laugh. Here is my start:
Ted Kennedy (D) MA - Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon and Garfunkel
Lincoln Chafee (R) RI - Should I Stay Or Should I Go? _ The Clash
Jim Jeffords (I) VT - Who Are You? - The Who
Trent Lott (R) MISS - Theme from "Shaft"
You get the idea!

Or Joe Lieberman "The Conscience of The Senate"
Stand By Your Man (for backing good ol' Bill in that impeachment vote, or toadying to Gore the last two years)
Or John McCain
"I'm An A$$hole" (by Dennis Leary)
But you might want to save that last one for more deserving folks like Robert Byrd, my least favorite Senator. There ain't a song that uses enough four letter words to describe that piece of &#!+.

Bill Klintoon - It's Sad To Belong To Someone Else (England Dan & John Ford Coley)

Patty Murray - Whoopie We're All Gonna Die [Country Joe McDonald and the Fish - Woodstock 1969]
To: Scarchin
Ted Kennedy-"One For My Baby (And One More For The Road)" by Frank Sinatra
Hillary-"Black Magic Woman" by Santana
Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer-I could put up "(I Wish They All Could Be) California Girls" by the Beach Boys, but I'd be lying.
Bubba-"My Sharona" by the Knack
In closing, I just wanted to say I'm looking forward to VH1 doing a "Behind the Music" on the Singing Senators.

Hey, I'm glad to see somebody remembers "Lies" by The Knickerbockers. Still have my album -- they were another of those groups that was supposed to be "the next Beatles." Maybe you're one of the few who also remember "She's The One" by The Chartbusters or "Psychotic Reaction" by Count Five. In fact that would be another good one for McCain.

Good one!! In that picture he also qualifies for "Leader Of The Laundromat" -- remember that one from The Detergents? Lucky for you if you don't.
