Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at 17:30 JST
TOKYO Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan Kinichi Komano escaped an attempt on his life in mid-November in southern Afghanistan, Fuji Television Network (Tokyo, Japan) reported Tuesday.
The TV station quoted Foreign Ministry sources as saying the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency had provided Japan with information that a vehicle Komano and other members of the Foreign Ministry and the Japan International Cooperation Agency were to be aboard would be attacked near the city of Kandahar.

'Score one for the spooks .... nice job CIA :)'Yep. Methinks there is, as W said, a whole lotta the war on terror that we won't see. I especially liked the President's "go" order on wet work. Convenient street robberies, unexpected falls and car wrecks for bad guys is a good thing in this day and age....

Pre emptive actions can take many forms.
As this war against the Islamofascists who finance their suicidal Islamakazis goes on, more Islamofascists will just disappear, have accidents or die at an early age.

A sneak attack on the Jap?
Sorry!

If you say so.

And meanwhile Senator Daschle says we're not winning the war on terrorism, Senator Murray says we should emulate Osama in order to win the Muslim world's affection, and Senator Clinton says we can't trust President Bush to do the job...

Given the results of the Nov 5 election, we should hope for more of their commentary.

Don't forget the 'you forgot to pay your bill' attacks and the accidental drownings.
To: Darksheare
Those too, however, not many drownings in the desert. Just heart attacks and dehydration..

Yeah, those were a riot to hear about.
Wonder what next, stomped by a rampaging camel that just happens to read "Michelin" on it?

LOL. I wouldn't want to be linked to a-Q, that's for sure. No telling what accidents may happen. On thing for sure, W meant what he said. Gotta go--you and yours have a safe, happy and Merry Christmas....

Help me,,why in hades would they attack a japanese ambassador to Afghanistan? I mean, that seems pretty small fry to me unless all they can get is small fry. I do think there is alot going on we don't know about, hope one day we will.
To: AmericanInTokyo
Wait 'till they kill a French politician. The frogs will be beside themselves with anger...at the US.
To: cajungirl
Japan is taking quite a role in the rebuilding of Afghanistan. Al Qaeda wants anyone helping Afghanistan to leave ASAP. Killing the ambassador would result in the Japanese leaving, or so the Al Qaeda think.

Thanks,,did not know that.

Wonder how many of them will be done in by a caterpillar...

You take care of yourself, and Merry Christmas as well.
Hoping this thread doesn't degenerate into suggestions of how to dubiously off A-Q's.
Not that it wouldn't be funny.. but I'm not sure the CIA types who lurk here to 'observe' how well the disinformation is working would like it.
(Being that we have Mil types here and other such, foreign agents do lurk here, as well as our own intelligence types. Nice to be loved, right?)

That's at least TWO. Don't forget the little explosion in Yemen.
