Please sign the petition to eliminate the liberal propaganda outlet known as PBS and make Bill Moyers and the other liberal shrills get real jobs. It has been long past time to defund these government media outlets.

Drastic things don't happen in this country, and there are FReepers who'll tell you that's good and that's how the Founding Fathers wanted it

T. Jefferson To Abigail Adams Paris, Feb. 22, 1787
DEAR MADAM,

-- I am to acknolege the honor of your letter of Jan. 29. and of the papers you were so good as to send me. They were the latest I had seen or have yet seen. They left off too in a critical moment; just at the point where the Malcontents make their submission on condition of pardon, and before the answer of government was known. I hope they pardoned them. The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the Atmosphere.

From Thomas Jefferson to William Smith
Paris, November 13, 1787

There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century & a half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure.

The Freepers that think as you say, and sadly they are MANY, are not worth warm spit. They are worthless. Ignore the girly men.

Getting rid of Moyers is fine. He is a liberal hack bereft of new ideas but they got great science programs and opera!

The science programs and opera can survive on other commercial networks. The science programs can be shown on Discovery and other networks and the opera can be shown on Bravo and any other network that wants it.

I'd submit that CBSNBCABCNN and print media are far more dangerous.

The number of people that aren't leftist, are too stupid to realize that NPR/PBS is a socialist organization AND intelligent enough to intentionally find an NPR broadcast could gather in your living room.

But still, should taxpayer money go to fund left-wing propaganda?

PBS is basically a sad sack self esteem program for journalists who couldn't get hired at McDonald's if they brought their own ground beef.

Even though both are lefties, it helps to know what the enemy is thinking ...

Well you can just turn on CNN, MSNBC, etc etc for free. Why pay tax dollars to hear it again?

The thing I got against PBS and NPR is that the government (in other words, taxpayers) should not fund something like that, it is a total waste of money. If there are any good shows on there they would be picked up in their entirety by other stations (corporations) but at THEIR cost, not the taxpayers. But I see precious little worth saving on PBS or NPR anyway. The liberals would scream and cry about this so much that moderate (liberal) Republicans would never go along out of fear. They would suddenly find all kinds of "good" reasons for saving it. It should happen but unfortunately it never will.

Ah. Rhetorical questions are always easy to answer :).

No, of course not. But neither should we fund Medicare, SS, the WOD, the Dept of Education, Energy, etc...
All of which are far more deadly. Just a perspective point.

The GOP almost defunded PBS once. But lost the balls. Shows how worthless they are that they can't defund something that noone uses or listens to.

Quote of the Year

First Place MRC

“The entire federal government – the Congress, the executive, the courts – is united behind a right-wing agenda for which George W. Bush believes he now has a mandate. That agenda includes the power of the state to force pregnant women to surrender control over their own lives. It includes using the taxing power to transfer wealth from working people to the rich. It includes giving corporations a free hand to eviscerate the environment and control the regulatory agencies meant to hold them accountable. And it includes secrecy on a scale you cannot imagine.

“Above all, it means judges with a political agenda appointed for life. If you like the Supreme Court that put George W. Bush in the White House, you will swoon over what’s coming. And if you like God in government, get ready for the Rapture....

“So it’s a heady time in Washington, a heady time for piety, profits and military power, all joined at the hip by ideology and money. Don’t forget the money....Republicans out-raised Democrats by $184 million and they came up with the big prize: monopoly control of the American government and the power of the state to turn their radical ideology into the law of the land. Quite a bargain at any price.”

– Bill Moyers’ commentary at the end of his PBS show Now on November 8, the Friday after Republicans won control of the Senate in midterm elections.
