If someday our current president is free to say that this "religion of peace" nonsense was promoted because it was necessary to establishing forward deployed launch platforms in otherwise hostile Arab states, then I'll be content.

In the meantime, I'm fairly certain that's what's going on.

I agree - it would be incredibly stupid and harmful to our goals to alienate the whole rest of the world by declaring the truth about Islam. Prsident Bush's statements are merely a means to an end and they also serve to keep nutcases from going out and killing peaceful innocents that practice more benign forms of Islam.

As I said WAY before he was elected, "don't play poker with W". If you don't believe me ask Ann Richards, The Tx. Dems, The Texas Media, John McCain, Al Gore, Joe Lieberman, The National Media, The Eurotrash Media, James Carville, Paul Begalla, David Boise, The FL. Supreme Court, Congress, Terry MacAuliffe, Tom Daschle, etc, etc, etc. They thought he was two steps behind when he was two steps ahead of them.

This is high stakes poker. We have a very good player handling our cards.

Plus, it seems to support his way of looking at appeasing the multiculturalist/pluralist befuddled, while implementing his plans for nonintrusive government cooperation with faith based institutions.

I have a feeling that George mutters under his breath "By the time I'm done with it..." before saying "Islam is a religion of peace."
