Castro, Chavez Attending Brazilian Inauguration - "Jan. 1 is no longer a Cuban monopoly"

BRASILIA, Brazil - Cuban leader Fidel Castro arrived Tuesday in Brazil to attend the inauguration of Luiz Inacio da Silva, the country's first leftist president in 40 years.

Castro, dressed in trademark green uniform, was driven in a motorcade to a Brasilia hotel amid tight security.

"I am happy to be in Brazil, and happy to say that Jan. 1 is no longer a Cuban monopoly," Castro told reporters. Jan. 1 is the anniversary of the Cuban revolution that brought Castro to power.

A serious leg infection kept Castro out of sight in Cuba for nearly two weeks in December, but he showed no difficulty walking as he entered the hotel.

Silva takes over Wednesday for outgoing president Fernando Henrique Cardoso in an inaugural ceremony expected to attract presidents from at least six other Latin American countries and 100,000 or more Brazilians.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez was also expected to attend. But the four-week-old strike in Venezuela aimed at ousting him was expected to delay him.

Earlier this month, Chavez said until the last minute that he would attend an economic summit in Brasilia, but never showed up.

Silva, a 57-year-old former union leader, will govern Latin America's largest country and counts Castro and Chavez among his friends.

Very telling picture on post #14 which has the leaders of Sweden, Cuba, South Africa and Chile all lined up in a row applauding Lula on a balcony. The leaders of Sweden and Chile are socialist party members while Castro of Cuba and Mbeki of South Africa are official members of their nations' respective Communist parties. Reminds me of a May Day military parade with Communist leaders cheering on their imperious leader. Very distressing...

Great picture of the red gains in Latin America. The only problem is that you missed Ecuador which has also been taken over by a Chavezista President.

With Cuba and Venezuela now in commie hands, Brazil will now follow their lead and it's goodbye (adeus!) to Brazil and Latin America. Is the Admin even worried? I see nothing being done to counter this threat. Hells bells-- they haven't even addressed coherent ways to counter the huge invasion of illegals from Mexico! They seem to be asleep at the switch in DC, or am I wrong?

You are not wrong. The Bush Admin is asleep at the switch. In addition to demoting Otto Reich from his position as Asst Secretary of State, they are pulling out the welcome mats for Lula's Red takeover. Of course, they remain supportive of the ongoing illegal immigrant invasion of the US and have announced plans to reward hundreds of thousands of them with social security benefits, a plan which would cost $1 billion a year.

This of course is all in the plans of those who rule from behind the scenes to destroy this Country. And they are the top executives of the Federal Reserve Board who have also partaken in this effort to destroy this Country. By them destroying the Mexican peso in 1995, they are responsible for Mexico's economic failure which has resulted in those illegals coming over from the Mexican border to the U.S. to be used as slave labor while those in the U.S. corporate ladder profit. I do not hate Mexicans at all but the problem with the illegals coming in to this country started when the United States messed with the Mexican economy. Ever since we have bailed out Mexico, we have also been paying for this with our own jobs, freedoms and culture. You can thank those who head the Federal Reserve Board who hold capital interest at the sake of our anemic economy. I think everyone of those heading the Federal Reserve should be tried for treason and fraud against the U.S.
