Why Win If You're Going to Wimp Out? (Rush Limbaugh asks Republicans)

Why Win If You're Going to Wimp Out?

January 2, 2003

There is no reason for going soft on the Bush agenda, yet we're doing that more and more on everything from ending racial discrimination (aka: affirmative action) to tax fairness to Saddam. If we'd already dealt with him, we wouldn't be faced with this supposed dilemma over whether North Korea or Iraq should be our primary focus. It's not a dilemma, anyway. They're both going to be dealt with, so there's no reason to create these openings.

Reuters reports that President Bush plans to unveil an economic stimulus package expected to reach up to $300 billion, including "targeted" tax cuts, but only a 50% cut in taxes on corporate dividends to shareholders. The original proposal was to eliminate them, because it's immoral to tax earnings twice. It's double taxation. It's ridiculous. For crying out loud, why do you win the White House and Senate if you're only going to water down your agenda?

I love this administration when it comes to foreign policy and protecting us from terrorism, but I continue to scratch my head over some of this on the domestic side. If this Reuters story isn't just wishful thinking, the White House is going to shelve tax cuts because they fear the Democratic lie that it's "for the rich." They don't have the sand to go out there and cite the IRS figures we have on this site, proving that only the rich are paying income taxes.

Who are "the rich," anyway? It used to be millionaires. Today it's any family that earns $100,000 a year - and we have multimillionaires like Kerry and Edwards and Rockefeller and Kennedy saying, "I have my wealth, so I don't favor a wealth tax, but I'm going to tax income so you can't get wealthy."

The White House is also said to be staying out of the Supreme Court case of a woman kept out of the University of Michigan because of her skin color: white. Admission based on race is wrong, but the administration fears taking the woman's side because it would damage White House counsel Alberto Gonzales' Supreme Court confirmation.

They're also ready to extend unemployment insurance yet again – which means paying people not to work by taking the money from those of us who are working. Folks, the Democrats are going to criticize us no matter what we do. It's absurd to back down on our agenda. As Senator Mitch McConnell told me in our upcoming Limbaugh Letter interview, the Senate only has six months to get things done. The Democrats want to bottle things up so they can have issues. Why help them out?

I agree completely re: the importance his leaving has on this forum.

Thanks for the thoughts but we are going to fight for a conservative agenda and for the 2004 win for Bush if he does not turn left!

So our goals are not that far off from yours which is a win in 2004!

No, the Irish in general I suspect don't think wearing a hat with a feather in it is a symbol of masculinity on a Texas ranch. But I am opining on something that is way outside my area of expertise. Thus, it is barely possible that I am wrong.

I did not say they were out of funds, I said much of their funds were ct off. are you reading what you want to read? The term "People of Trust" is not merely a term, they are real people. Secretary Rumsfeld told us what I shared with you, that's all I need.

Rush's intellect is hideously conventional, superficial, and yes, often wrong, and yes, basically RNC central (with occasional brief variations when he worries about his audience's reactions). I loved the way he treated the Buchanan thingie ever so cautiously until he got the lay of the land as to where his audience was going. Only his great entertainment talents overcome all of that as far as his staying power goes, and his entertainment value is not what it once was.

I listen to Rush and I think he is continually over-reacting to articles published by Liberal Rags that are complete speculation, But I do understand why he has to do what he does. He is an entertainer first and a truth seeker second.

His opinions on the speculative articles are usually spot on, but his knee jerk bashing of conservatives has convinced me that his wallet comes before the facts and his thirst for sensational subjects comes before his loyalty to the conservative movement.

I still find myself tuning into the EIB network at noon each day :-)

Stop believing in your own infallibility, TBL. You are NOT the arbiter of conservative values.

Just because someone does not agree with you does NOT make THEM the non-conservative and YOU the REAL conservative. 'Nuff said.

I am so glad you asked, I do have a few suggestions. Stop all immigration from terrorist nations for the duration. End student visas, tourist visas, and only allow business visas after the person has been throughly ivestigated.

Privatize illegal immigrant pick up and transport back to native country, allow bounty hunters a fee paid by the fed for the ones they catch. Put civilian militia on both borders. Make it federal law that local police departments aid and co operate in this action.

Tell Bush no more attempts at 245i that is a haven for terrorists. End the ability of immigrants to move family to the USofA, end the green card lottery that allows unknown individuals to stay in the country or come to the country.

Place a moratorium on all immigration until a fast and efficent system is in place to do detailed background checks. Demand a detailed flight list of those flying here from Saudi Arabia then run fingerprint checks on them at the airport and take their pictures, this would be only business men that are allowed in on a business visa, no one else from a terrorist nation should be allowed to hop a plane in France and land unchallanged in the USofA.
