Freeper Don Bell will be running on the ticket with Senator Virgil Moore for Kentucky Governor
email | January 9, 2003 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 01/08/2003 9:19:31 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Just received word via some of our Kentucky FReepers that Freeper Don Bell will be running on the ticket with Senator Virgil Moore for Kentucky Governor next year.

"Virgil Moore is a very popular State Senator with many years of legislative experience. Don Bell compliments that ticket perfectly because he is an experienced bean counter, has 20 years experience as a Secret Service Agent, and so can do a lot to cure the ills in the bloated budget as well as the many problems within the Kentucky State Police Department."

"At the moment, I see no team running that has more to offer the people of Kentucky."

"Oh . . . . do I think Virgil Moore can win? Yup! There's a good chance there. He has been doing the background work. Adding Don Bell to the ticket will help. So, yeah, this is more than just supposing. . . . . ."

News should hit the wires tomorrow.

Good luck to Mr. Bell and Virgil Goode. Here in Louisiana, we won't disappoint again like we did in November. We'll defy the odds and elect a Republican governor and try to take the State Senate.

I've met and supp'ed with Don in Kentucky with The Irate Magistrate. He was well spoken and very dedicated to our Republic and its constitution. Great background too. I hope the best for his candidacy and was sorry he lost his bid for Congress.

Mike, tell Don hi for me and give him my best ... Bernie and the boys at the dump too ... and the Colonel.

Sweeet. Maybe I can move to Kentucky (about 60 miles south of me) for a short time for cheaper cigarette prices and to throw a vote in for him.

Don: Good luck and update us all as this develops. Us southern ohio freepers can lend you a hand. Freepmail me if you need envelops stuffed, etc. Been itching for something to do - my last big projects were helping a sen. from cleveland nail the ohio OBE back in the 90's and being heavily involved with the whitehall city council (I live in circleville now but my schedule makes it difficult to attend most meetings and functions).

Thanks for the info Jim! I am heading to California March 15th for 10 days to visit friends and family, will see if I can make it up for a support the troops thingee (how far are you from Bakersfield?)

I have only met a few federal officers who are also strong Constitutionalists and honor their oath of office. Don Bell is one, and deserves our support -- in whatever method that support may be.

Senator Moore is well placed to be governor. He's popular, knowledgeable, glib enough and able to do the job. What Senator Moore lacks, Don Bell complements. So, yes, there is a team there.

Thanks Jeff!

I'm very happy to see our FReeper Don Bell join the ticket with the decorated Viet Nam vet, Ky Sen. Virgil Moore.

All of the constitutional groups in Kentucky are on our side; along with the anti-tax, pro-life and, pro-gun groups.

But would be a bit scary if they were Freepers like
Names deleted so CCC doesn't get his butt kicked

General question for anyone who might know; is this the same Don Bell who published a small newsletter "Don Bell Reports" back in the late 1970s-early 1980s? I had the chance to read some of those newsletters, and found them interesting.

I'll take this opportunity, as upchuck did, to remind you people that we want all the Kentucky FReepers to attend our Kentucky FReepers meeting on Thursday, Jan 23, 2003 @ Don Pablo's on Hurstbourne Pky @ 6pm. P.S. BTW, I still want to know why local FReepers CreekerFreeper and EastKYRepublican were BANNED .

Thanks for the question bigunreal,

No, FReeper Don Bell was an active Secret Service agent at that time.

He may have been assigned at the Reagan Ranch in that period of time or, the White House or, the duty of security for a retired president.

He also was a watchdog over the security of our nations currency while investigating counterfit money.

Virgil on the other hand, was certainly happy to be home in the early 70's from the trauma of the Viet Nam war, where he was awarded several citations, such as the bronze star for valor.

He left the US Army as a retired Lt Colonel.

Virgil Moore quickly became successful as a businessman and cattle farmer in his Western KY county.

He was so well liked there that he soon was elected county GOP chairman.

This, all before he established himself as the well-respected Ky Republican senator that we all know and love today.

We talked him into the fabeled historic Ky Lt. Governor's mansion where we can go visit him and get into his refrigerator looking for a light beer.

As you know, the gracious Stephanie also makes great coffie.

Just think of the great conversations we will have there on how to dismantle the beomuth of the wasteful state government.

Why even today Virgil is down at his Frankfort capitol office with a sharp pencil, looking to get rid of the run away waste and corruption of the Patton administration.

Don Bell, If you're lurking on this page, please call Senator Moore's office.

He just called me from the Ky Senate floor on a "borrowed Democrat cell phone".

He wants you to be there this evening while Governor Patton addresses the joint legislature at opening.

This is an exciting development. Senator Virgil Moore would make an excellent Kentucky Governor. But, Don Bell brings other skills to the table that Kentucky also desperately needs. Now that I think about it for a moment, I find the choice of Don Bell as Lt. Governor to be a stroke of genius on Virgil Moore's part.

If it were a "business," the State of Kentucky is so poorly operated it would be bankrupt. But, Kentucky already has some of the highest taxes in the nation -- they tax every little thing that is manufactured, grown, sold, moves, or sits still for a moment -- so more taxes are not an option.

The Kentucky Democrats set up a system with $100-million in appointed patronage jobs and many of those people never even show up for work. They do, however, kick back a significant part of their salary to the Democratic Party coffers and campaigns. An honest team, like Moore and Bell, would see a budget balancing mechanism there. Cutting out the waste, fraud and abuse in the Medicare-Medicaid and welfare budget could save almost another $100-million annually.

The Kentucky State Police is sorely in need some constructive guidance, which Don Bell can expertly offer. The State is overrun with minor bureaucrats, each wielding arbitrary power in their little fiefdoms, with no coordination or control. And, there are actually three different systems of State prosecutors, one which the government was given permission to eliminate (in the State Constitution) years ago but still exists at a cost to the public of many millions of bucks every year.

Ah yes, there is much work to be done in Kentucky government, if it is ever to be nudged into the twenty-first century. Like the State Constitution, the system of Kentucky State government is a holdover from the horse and buggy era and doesn't work very well anymore.

Kentucky government needs some significant changes . . . soon. A Moore-Bell Governorship would go far in making many of the necessary changes. And, let's face it, even though I also like a couple of the other candidates, I have yet to hear ANY of them even suggesting something at the State level might need changing.
