Thes Tag Lines Are Driving Me Crazy (VAnity)

Posted on 01/09/2003 5:56:00 AM PST by Puddleglum

The new "taglines" after people's usernames are really distracting to me. Is it the intense pressure to think up something too cute? Is it the odd little eye-pulling font that makes it less comfortable to read the article? I can't say for sure. It just doesn't seem to detract from the message board format, at least for me. Does anyone else think so? I love FR but find this new tagline thing a little annoying. Maybe Jim could give us the option to view or not view taglines as part of our user preferences.

Hey, people are dying in Africa of Aids and starvation and here you are bitching about tag lines. Could you BE more petty?

That's hilarious. You complain about tag lines, then use them. The word "pointless" comes to mind.

Funny, I was just going to figure out how to add a tagline to my signature because some people's taglines were so clever. It's like a little added statement that can reveal something about them, same as the choice of their Freeper name. (And now I see how to add a tagline!)

The taglines can stay, but I could do without the repetitive "Post Reply" "Private Reply" "Report Abuse" for every single post.

Much too busy and unnecessary.

Best regards,

I had a bit of fun with them yesterday but now I think they could be useful. For example, suppose you were offering some information about something, you might want to qualify it in the tag line by writing "(Former IRS employee)" or "(Resident of Yukon)", or something like that. A bit quicker than "And I should know, because..."
