The zombie apocalypse is nigh! The zombie apocalypse is nigh! Well, no it isn’t. In fact, it’s probably as likely to occur as the rest of Paul Ehrlich’s predictions. Ehrlich, a Stanford University biologist famous for his widely debunked book “The Population Bomb,” doubled down on his climate change and overpopulation fear-mongering with HuffPost Live on May 21. Ehrlich warned host Josh Zepps that the dangers of overpopulation are growing, blaming Republicans and the media for failing to take action. While hawking a new book called “Hope On Earth,” Ehrlich’s co-author Michael Tobias praised Ehrlich’s older, outrageously wrong predictions and...

Bond was denied Tuesday for a Cobb County man that allegedly threatened to eat a judge’s children after killing his family. James Satterfield, 58, was arrested in December after mailing a letter to the home of Cobb County Superior Court Judge Reuben Green. In the letter Satterfield allegedly wrote that he would kill the judge’s children and “cook them first to make them more palatable,” his arrest warrant states.

The killer who cooked his dinner guests flashes his teeth at the judge as eight-year jail term is increased to lifeTHE longest-running horror show in modern German legal history, the stomach-churning trial of Armin Meiwes, the Cannibal of Rotenburg, ended yesterday with a clear verdict: a life jail term for murdering a man in order to eat his organs. As the Frankfurt judges pronounced sentence, Meiwes swayed, nodded, briefly flashed his notorious teeth at the bench and then disappeared through a concealed door to begin a sentence that is expected to last about 15 years. Behind him he left grisly,...

Hello, I'm new here. I saw an article about FReeping David Letterman, and I'm just curious as to what that is all about. I mean, how do you freep someone basically? Just get the contact info for them and fire off complaints? Do you do them in person? Do you go after unpopular individuals like bloggers and the like, or just after "popular" (I use that term to mean people who are generally well known) people? I don't know much about this, so basically just want to hear your thoughts on it.

KASSEL, Germany (Reuters) - A German man has confessed in court to killing and eating a willing victim, saying it had felt like a religious act to eat human flesh. Offering a full account of the killing that has gained him worldwide notoriety as "The Cannibal of Rotenburg", Armin Meiwes said there were "hundreds, thousands" of people seeking to fulfil their desires to eat humans or be eaten via Internet adverts in forums called "Cannibal Cafe," "Guy Cannibals" and "Torturenet". The trial of Meiwes, 42, started on Wednesday in the central German city of Kassel, in a case that has...
  • Thes Tag Lines Are Driving Me Crazy (VAnity)

The new "taglines" after people's usernames are really distracting to me. Is it the intense pressure to think up something too cute? Is it the odd little eye-pulling font that makes it less comfortable to read the article? I can't say for sure. It just doesn't seem to detract from the message board format, at least for me. Does anyone else think so? I love FR but find this new tagline thing a little annoying. Maybe Jim could give us the option to view or not view taglines as part of our user preferences.

After a three-hour hearing today, state District Judge George Gallagher chose the maximum of the 20- to 30-year sentence range contained in a plea agreement. "My goal is to make sure Mr. Cala is never allowed out again," said...
